Why are Cashewnuts so expensive?

Cashewnuts are one of my favorite nuts. I like the fact that one can actually grind them to fine paste in your mouth before swallowing unlike most other nuts that are a bit grainy.
The downside it seems is these nuts don't have the same nutritional value as other nuts. Still why are these so expensive?
