Do you regret anything about your wedding?

Looking back now is there anything you would change about your wedding? Would you go from big to small or vice versa? Would you elope instead of having the big family do? We are planning on getting married this May but we aren't planning a wedding. A lot of people I've talked to who have had huge weddings say that if they had to do it over again they would prefer to elope. I am just curious how many of you would change something like that if you could.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, I had a small church wedding and I don't think I would change a thing. We were really strapped financially but it turned out so wonderful. We belong to an apostolic upci church and it was great everyone helped out. First we were married in our church, we were married in January, in order to avoid the cost of a big reception we had an evening wedding, and had a coffee and cake reception, my Pastor's wife made the cake, I borrowed my wedding gown from a dear friend, it was beautiful, a winter wedding dressing with a high collar and long sleeved with a train, my husband wore his best suit, we have flower corsages and bootnears for the ushers, mothers, pastors, etc., we didn't bother with any decorations really, we did exchange rings, my best friend sang -- it was wonderful, simple and beautiful. For our honeymoon my husband wanted to go to Maui, Hawaii, but I want to make sure we would also be able to return to our honeymoon spot each year, so we went to a mountain resort in the blue ridge mtns. and because it was winter we got the off season rates, it was wonderful, the day of the wedding I went up to our room and put candles and music, along with a cooler of drinks and snacks with flowers in the room. It was great and I am glad that we had the small low key, inexpensive wedding - our friends took photos and videos. And believe it or not the whole thing including our 5 day honeymoon cost and wedding bands us a about $850. oh I forgot too I did get a beautiful trousse too. Best wishes in your blessed union, no matter how you get married, be blessed, be happy, be joyful! oohcute2340

Ahhh, that sounds so nice. I love to hear that sort of wedding story. It proves that you don't have to splash out thousands of dollars to have a celebration that fits the two of you.

I would have kept a better count of who attended before paying the caterer, since he apparently charged us per plate and the agreement was that it was per person. And I'm pretty sure I would have it in a prettier location. Other than that, nothing.

I think it's really sad that there are so many places that just love to take advantage of people on their 'big day'. I imagine you have to watch florists and photographers like a hawk too!

I don't regret anything about my second wedding - it was small and lovely. I regret everything about my first wedding, including the person I chose to marry - LOL!

LOL, I guess the person would be the most important part (and potentially the most regrettable)!

I did not have a large wedding with my first marriage, I do not regret that because the marriage did not last. I actually got married at my sister's house and the minister came there. My second marriage I would not change, it was a church wedding, with all of my family and friends and it was lovely. I think the expense of weddings is something to think about, because they can become quite costly, for it to be a five or six hour event.

Can they ever! It's crazy how something can start out small and inexpensive and then totally spiral out of control.
