One thing I always add to my vegetable soup is celery and don't forget the leaves. The taste is fairly strong but compliments the taste of other vegetables when put in a soup stock.

Peas, corn, beens if you like you can also put in potato if you so choose. And as it is your soup put in what you like. Oh heck put it all in. and see how it turns out. You have a good day.

I think carrots, beans, peas, etc are good for making vegetable soup.

Carrots, leeks and onions are the main "taste" of the soup. You might also want to add in corn. Corn sweetens the soup just like carrots. I would normally add in potatoes too. Don't ask me what it does because i have no idea either. haha. I just add in it & it taste great. Are you going to add stock into the soup, because i think with carrots and corn and onions, i don't think you need the additional msg. Moreover msg is not too good for one's health. =)
