If the price of fish is going down, why are they skyrocketing in the groceries?

I read recently that fish prices are going down because of the cost of fuel, etc. So I go to my grocery yesterday with a taste for cod, thinking it'll be less expensive than the %5.99 a pound it was a few weeks ago. No, it's raised to $6.99 a pound!! No way, I'll do without before I pay those prices. When oil went below $50 a barrel the prices stayed pretty much the same, we didn't get a break beyond what we already had gotten. Now the price is staying at less than $50 a barrel and gas is climbing toward $2 again! Why is this? Does anyone know?

Yea, they're bleedin us dry. Just because the original cost of the product has been reduced doesn't mean the seller will mark down the price to us.

Well, they're going to suffer then because people like me will refuse to buy it!

It's called the law of supply & demand. They supply the fish & demand more money!

I think price changes like this always take a while to filter down to the high street, unfortunately. I was looking at the prices of a barrel of oil on the news the other day, and the prices at the pump aren't following the same trend here either.

Oil is down and our gas prices are rising again. I guess we just can't win!

I haven't a clue. Talking about gas our town jumped to $1.99 a gallon today. It was $1.61 yesterday. Tell me why that will be.

Same here. I got it a week ago in Huber Hts for $1.41 when it was $1.65 in Springfield, just 20 miles away. Sunday, gas was $1.64 and Monday it was $1.84! It varies around town but that's the Speedway close to my house. I'm not for regulation as a general rule but something ought to be done to get some consistencey. I don't know anymore how much to allow for gas in my budget, let alone groceries!

Let's hope the prices go down as the cost of getting the goods go down, but people are greedy so I think the prices will continue to rise.
