Are you heroic enough to go inside of a burning building?

I have a lot of friends with various backgrounds, from mechanics, to artists, to computer technicians, etc... I even have some friends that are doctors, lawyers, judges and firefighters. The firefighters are the ones I would have to admire most because of the risk of life that they put themselves through in order to save someone. Although I have never had to run into a burning building in an attempt to save someone's life, I have had the necessary training to be a first responder in emergency type situations. We went through a crisis training exercise that was totally mind blowing. You literally had "dummies" lying around a large room with various things going on with them, from minor cuts, to limps completely off, and the idea was you had to get them out of that building to a safe place in order for them to get the adequate help they needed. In this crisis exercise, we learned how to seperate the people and put them all into colored groups. The color that stands out most to me right now is Black which meant they were dead. I only recommend people with the proper training to go inside of a burning building, but I wanted to know who think they would have the guts to do it, or at least would attempt? What experience have you had that would make you think you would or wouldn't?

I share your admiration for those who will risk their lives to benefit those of others. If I was one of a few or the only person who could help these people, I do not think I could stand there and watch a house burn with lives inside. That being said, I do understand my physical limitations and it would be quite difficult for me to assist most full-sized adults; although, the adrenaline in my system may serve to be effective. I would more than likely attempt rescue..if there were children, there is no doubt.. I would not want to obstruct any rescue that could be or was taking place, because I believe the professionals have it on this one... My love for life and the importance I believe the value each individual has, I believe is enough for me to assume I would try and help them. As the eldest of my siblings, I know I could and would help save a child in distress... I have tried to help drunk adults, and usually they are far too large for me to handle...the only reason I may contemplate a true rescue, although, I'd probably run in and check to see what I can do... I've always had a thing for fire, and my babysitter was a volunteer firewoman...She was cool...

That is so cool to have encounter a firefighter as a babysitter. It is amazing how people can touch our lives even in the smallest of ways.
