FENG SHUI anyone...

I am opening this topic here for lack of a better category to put it in...it concerns the practice or belief in Feng Shui. Filipinos have evolved over the influences of various cultures in its history. The Chinese "flavor" is at its forefront during this season of its New Year. Malls are not missing of charms and trinkets that call on luck and prosperity for the coming Year of the Earth Ox, Jan. 26, 2009 (or the year 4707 in the Chinese calendar). Are you into Feng-shui elements and devices that harness energies for your good chi? Do you know of your kua number and the pakua? What can you share on Feng-shui that has improved or benefited your life? Or are all these just trivial nonsenses that really do not matter to how you live your life? Share your experiences or curiosities...we may learn from each other! Happy mylotting...

My husband's grandfather shared with him that feng shui started back in the provinces in China where farmers based the layout of their land according the position of the sun so that the crops get the right about of light and water it needs. So in a sense, it started out as something practical rather than a set of rules which it is somewhat known for nowadays. I do try to follow the feng shui guidelines whenever I can, particularly in our home and I think that in doing so, I am sort of setting my mind on a certain goal and it keeps me focused. Like for example, there is an area for business, friends, etc. I don't see anything wrong with it but I also don't think you have to follow it to the letter either.

Not that keen follower of that beliefs but at times especially when friends do give gifts like that then we just follow what should be done but then we are not that followers of such practice. When I was young I remember buying a book since we were constructing a house back then at my province. Some of the do's and don'ts in building a house was somehow patterned according to the book. But then that was it after the house was built we do not follow everything that was written on it. Some of my aunts are also consulting to their sister who had connection with a Feng Shui master they would consult to it before making any decision they need to do in their lives. My aunt even gave my son a chinese name that will suit him.

Hi there rsa101... Thank you for sharing your opinions of feng shui and also your experiences with its practice at work and with your relatives. I presume you are an architect and it can be quite a task to conform with some of its programs or guidelines so you must be excellent at your profession. Happy mylotting...

Hi friend! I am here answering your post from my Christian point of view. Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice, right? Although it seems nothing offending at all or seems nice at a glance, I am not in any way convinced that Feng Shui is something I have to believe or follow. Jesus is my God and not Buddha so why should I tolerate the prospects of Buddha in my way of life? Hence, to me, Feng Shui, its elements, the charms and trinkets that call on luck are all but trivial nonsenses. I know Feng Shui can not and will never at all affect my life. I don't depend my life on luck but rather on God alone. If I want blessings and success to come into my life I have nothing to do but live my life for God first and live in His righteousness so that all things good and perfect will be awarded to me. It is written and very clear in the word of God in James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change." I know that God is in control of my life and most of all He has been given the promise that He works all things, whether seemingly good or bad, together for good my good. This is clearly stated in Romans 8:28. This is the reason why I don't really bother myself thinking of how luck will come into my life. As long as I am doing God's will, I will never be out of His care. As one of my favorite verses in the Bible states: "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1. God bless!

Hi there friend... Thank you for those inspirational quotes. I'm sure God blesses us, his children, in ways we sometimes do not recognize. Luck and wishful thinking are all but man's limited knowledge of His goodness and mercy. Your sharing is greatly appreciated and I will see you around... Happy mylotting...
