at the moment gambhir and sehwag are doing pretty well and both have been scoring heavily for the indian team so there's actually no chance of jaffer staging a comeback, but then if anyone fails or is out for some other reason, jaffer may get a chance.

wasim jaffer is good player. he has very strong technique. he plays well on both offside on onside. but, i don't think he can make up to the test team. shewag and gambir are playing well in all forms of the game. they have very good relation between them. he cant make to test team anymore as both of them are playing well. he might be considered as the second option if any one of them is injured.

WASIM JAFFER is a very good defensive player and is in a very nice form and keeping in mind all the talent this man possesses, he should be in Indian test line up. But again question arises, where will he bat? whom will he replace? He is an professional opener, so will you try to distrub the inform pair of Virender Sehwag and Gautham Gambhir? or will you ask Wasim Jaffer to play in lower order? Will he be able to adjust in different conditions and a different responsibility?? These questions must be answered. Good talent with good form is always a blessing but players do need a bit of luck also. Take the example of Stuart MacGill, he was an exceptional bowler, but he never got enough chance because of legendary Shane Warne. If MacGill would have been born in a different era or playing for another team, he might have ended up with more than 100 tests. Same is happening with talented wicketkeepers in South Africa due to the presence of Mark Boucher... So, Wasim Jaffer must wait till either Gambhir or Sehwag are rested or injured, or else he must adapt himself to play in middle order, if he really want to serve and play for India...

I don't see a way back for him. It is unfortunate though. The openers slot will not be empty for a long time, he is not even a first choice replacement in case of injury, it is Vijay who will play. At least if jaffer was an aggressive player he would have had ample opportunities in 20-20 or odi, his technique makes him unsuitable for these formats. Thus i feel that it will be v.v.difficult for him to make a comeback to team India. The only way this could happen is if both the regular openers are unavailable for an entire series due to injury.
