I hate to jump to any conclusions here but I simply cannot help it. Even though it is not happening in my country, however, this is actually happening in the UK. It is really alarming as a diabetic is being diagnosed every 3 minutes. Shocking isn't it? To think that this could be happening in such a country where medical sciences is abreast if not one of the best in the world. So, how do they account for such a finding? Are these the works of stressful lifestyles? Careless dieting habits? Junk food? Soft drink fads? The modern lifestyle vices? I just simply hate the thought that it will befall into my homeland someday but until that day arrives I hope that we will be able to curb this problem. What is your take on this? Anything valid and factual to share here? Ref: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1106953/A-person-Britain-diagnosed-diabetes-THREE-minutes.html

All the causes you mentioned, stressful lifestyle, careless diet, junk food, soft drinks modern lifestyle vices contribute to all the diseases that are running rampant in the US. We start our day with a cup of coffee or other jolt of caffeine to get our system going, then grab a sweet roll of some kind on our way to work, then grab some fast food item and eat it on the go while we run errands on our lunch hour. After work is no better. Either pull a prepackaged meal out of the freezer or cabinet or pick up dinner on our way home. Our children are exposed to the chemical preservatives in all these foods from the time they start eating solid foods and continue the rest of their lives. Stress causes our bodies to produce cortisol, which not only makes us fat, but weakens all the organs of our bodies. We take medications to eliminate the stress (more chemicals) then take another medication to counteract the side effect of that medication and it becomes a viscous circle. The best way to prevent diabetes and many of the diseases that beset industrial nations is to cut out as many chemicals including preservatives and additives in food as possible, get plenty of exercise, stay hydrated. In other words, live a healthy lifestyle over all. For those born with diabetes, it's not so simple, but the general healthy lifestyle lessens the effects.
