How does myLot "Participation" work?

I haven't been lurking myLot much lately but when I checked my earnings I see a new "participation" area. Does anyone know how that works?

participations are things that you do in mylot like post response, add photos, start new discussion, etc. All categories that i say above merged into participations, that's what i know.

It's not new. That's just the category they lump everything into, the earnings you get from starting discussions, responding to discussions, adding photos, etc. I think there was more than one category a long time ago, but they merged it all.
