Oh God it's so HOT!

Heat Rash - So hot in here!

My baby and I just came back from a 3-week vacation to my parent's house. My parents' rooms are airconditioned, and so, my baby was so comfortable sleeping there (he's barely 4 weeks old). That's why I'm having this problem when we came back here. You see, I only have an electric fan and it isn't enough to cool the room and so it is really really hot! My poor baby's having heat rash on his face, head and neck and it breaks my heart to see them especially when he cries because of the heat (which happens every hour). I can't afford an aircondition at home. I don't know what to do. Any idea?

A friend of mine said that she used to do a bowl of water in front of a fan. The effects is similar to that of having an air condition. It does keep the room cool. Try to educe heat gain by pulling dshades, and use shelters to prevent direct sunlight from streaming in through windows on the south and west-facing sides of the house. Hello Maple Kisses... I am glad to hear you and Nico went and visited your parents. I hope the suggestions given here help him with his heat rash. You two take care.

Maybe he cries because it itches too... That's right, dab with cool, damp cloth. I don't know, since he's still so young, but at home, we used cornstarch - mixed it with cold water and used that to dab on the skin. Starchy water is known to have soothing effect on burning and itching rashes.

Though we have an air-condition my son still had heat rash last summer(It's winter now my time). I do not like to open an air-condition which I think is not good for baby who need more sleep. Wear few, open the windows and an electric fan, often bath are helpful. At last let him alone because hold in arms is easy having heat rash.
