Traveling down South

I am planning to go somewhere down South this Spring but I don't know where to go. I was thinking the Dominican Republic but that seems too cliche for me, I want to go somewhere different. I also may have to travel by myself as no one wants to come with me so I would like some ideas on where to go down South that is safe for a female traveling alone.

I am female and I have traveled to lots of places safely on my own. These days I travel with my toddler son so I still like to go to safe places. If you want to go to somewhere different go might like to go to Cuba. If not how about the island that is full of nature. It is called Dominica and it is not the same as one of the touristy islands. Personally I would do a three center trip, Cartagena de Indies, San Andres Island and Providence Island. Good luck deciding on trip.
