Is anyone unable to work??

Hi all. I am just curious because I can't work. I have so many health problems and it really depresses me. I have IBS-D, Gastroparesis (delayed emptying of the stomach), depression, carpal tunnel syndrome, hypothyroidism, and the list goes on. I have applied for disability because I cant go on living on nothing. 260 a month child support is all I get. I hate living this way. Never feeling good, the digestive conditions are what cause me the worse daily trouble. I was just wondering if anyone else was struggling the way I am?? I wish I could work, but I cant. I have tried. Please share with me. Thanks.

Yes, I am on disability. And you can PM me anytime you want to talk. I remember how good I felt about myself when I was able to work. It's hard to maintain any kind of self-esteem when we are hampered by physical and emotional problems. I may be having spinal surgery coming up, and I don't know what it says that I am looking forward to it if it does happen. I just want to feel better, and if that surgery works, I'll welcome it! Of course that isn't my only physical obstacle, but I feel if I got rid of that one, everything else would be easier to handle.

Hi AmbiePam, Thankyou for your response and I am sorry you have been going through it. I wish you tons of luck with your surgery. It must be scary even thinking about it! I wish that could be an answer for me, but the doctors have said that stomach surgery is very dangerous and there are tons of complications. So I have to go on living like this. I hope to hear from disability soon. I haven't even gotten my first denial yet. I wish it wouldn't take so long. It does take a toll on your self esteem, especially when others depend on you. Like my son. But I just pray I will be approved soon, and things will get better. I wish you good for the future and I will pray for you when your surgery comes. I was hoping I wasn't the only one going through this situation. Thankyou!

It took me five years to get on disability. I'm going to pray it doesn't take you that long. Reading your health problems, maybe you'll get on after your first rejection. I got a first, then a second, and then got on the third and final time. Don't forget, ANY time, PM me, and I'll listen. It's a tough road.

moonlitmagikchild, It happened to me the same way as you. I was working (sort of) and then I got sick in 2005 right after my dad passed away. I have constant back pain due to enormous bloating everyday. I had a sketchy job history though. Due to my depression. It makes me feel really worthless. Now I am stuck at home to. I am glad I am not alone. Thankyou.
