A minimal amount of postings/responses for a person to be able to rate?

This thought came to me as I was responding to a response to one of my discussions. It was about rating a discussion in order to rate the stars. Someone pointed out that spammers comes on here and rate people's discussions in a negative way to bring down people's ratings for fun. That's really sad that people come on here to ruin hopefuls with their pranks. I know, I thought I was creating some interresting and heartfelt discussions and responses. It was to my surprise that when I got my star, it was a lower rating than my old account was.
So, if you need to have a certain number before gaining your star (100), some to be able to use those cute smiley faces (200) and copy cut and past (at 500, I believe) and I dont' know what else is available, do you think there should be a certain number for rating someone? After all, the ratings can make or break people's earning potentials.
Good idea or another rule to live by? What are your opinions?

Your star rating has nothing to do with your earning potential. I don't know why it's even there but it doesn't matter whether you're rated a 10 or a 2...you earn what you would normally earn based on your posts. I think it's terrible that some folks seem to like to play around with other people's rankings but don't let it bother you too much. I used to be a perfect 10...before I started posting on the political board...where everyone's stars take regular hits.

My bad, I'm just repeating what I heard others say that ratings affect your earnings. Actually, I haven't looked into that very rule because I'm here to blog, write and discuss because my other online page is somewhat cheesy...very few people reply to my blogs there.

I dont see as to how they can bring down your ratings could you explain that to me? I just noticed getting stars at around 100 posts. I'm not sure exactly what its for. Could some one clarify to what is does? I'm asuming the lower your number the better... Well anyways happy my lotting.
