... and how do you propose we do that then? you and i presumebly aren't responsible for any wars, right? how do you convince the people who are responsible that the reasons why they feel war is neccessary, are unjust? war has occurred the world over for thousands of years... philoshiphers and leaders have come and go, yet they still occur. it's not remotely a case of saying "stop war", takes more effort and reasoning than that. imagine if i said to an omnivorous person "stop eating meat, please"... do you think anyone would respond by going "ok then i will"? you have to give reasons that substantiate your perspective, there will be plenty of people who feel that any given war is for a just cause

I agree, I think Bryn... you are too pessimistic, an increasing large number of people are stopping eating meat, to cite your own example. One person can change the world but they cannot do it alone. all the best urban

i'm not being pessimistic, its realistic ;) there are plenty of people who have become vegetarian of course. however, what i meant was that people will not simply change because you TELL them to change, it requires your persuasive reasoning to change someone's opinion on anything... see what i mean? a possible way to stop any given war is to find out WHY the different sides are fighting and perhaps then negotiating what is amicable... understanding why people are fighting is key to bringing that conflict to an end, it's just that every war is stimulated by different terms, which makes it difficult to generalise... also, you have to keep in mind that societies are different throughout the world and some have advanced in ways that do not correspond with others, there is no real 'global government' per say to align all beliefs and customs in harmony, even though the UN is an effort... they show it isn't at all an easy task

It would be nice if I could. After all, wars do nothing positive for mankind. Thankfully God has the power to stop all wars. Will He? Psalm 46:8-9 (New Century Version) 8 Come and see what the Lord has done, the amazing things he has done on the earth. 9 He stops wars everywhere on the earth. He breaks all bows and spears and burns up the chariots with fire. So in the near future, this promise will be fulfilled!
