I've seen latetely from the google homepage that you could download an audio book for free. And these are the top selling novels like Harry Potter, etc. would you rather download an ebook or read the book by yourself? If no, why not? Your answers would be interesting.

Yes, I sometimes came across websites offering audio books for free. But I have never download any audio books yet. I prefer reading ebooks. I prefer to actively read the books than listening them read, because I am a visual person, not auditory person. Moreover, by reading written works we can learn how they write as well and it can obviously improve our writing skill. As a short story authors, of course you know that . Also, audio books are usually big files, taking longer time to download.

I'm sure audio books have their uses, and advantages. I personally, haven't had the pleasure of downloading, or listening to any. However, I would consider giving them a try for use when I may be driving alone in my car for example. There aren't many instances where I would be able to use this type of media, as I'm not permitted to have such things on my job. For that, an e-book would be preferable. Reading for many is a hobby, and for others, regular reading helps to improve things such as the pace one reads, increased vocabulary, and comprehension, and the use of the mind to travel on exciting adventures found while reading. A detrament to the audio book would probably be the opposite of what I just wrote, especially for younger children who really need to develop their brains, and increase their abilities to perform well on examins in an ever competitive world.

I would rather buy a paper back addition than reading an e-book on the computer. Paper back edition appears handy to me and it can be read at any time at any convenient place, on the other side, for reading an e-book, you will have to sit besides your computer or laptop.

I don't have a personal audio player. If I did have one I may use it to listen to an audiobook in bed, or on a long journey, but prefer to read in print. When I read a novel I am unaware of my surroundings. I am with the characters in their fictional situation. When I hear an audio book I find it difficult to keep listening, I start to think of other things, or I get distracted by the way the reader speaks.

I don't think I would download an audiobook that I'd have to listen to at my computer. But in the past I have had audio books on tape that I have listened to while doing the ironing and other boring chores.

He he he, the boring chores, yes. That would be a good background sound. Thanks for that input. I guess you could listen to it too through ipods. All the best.

I prefer ordinary books because for me audiobooks are just hype. People listen them just because they are popular and trendy but I think they are useless. I like when you have the book in front of you and then read it page after page; it is better because sometimes you don't understand something and you want to read it once again so you turn back few pages and start reading again. You can't do that with audio books, you have to rewind which is more complicated than turning the pages.

It's a tough challenge!!! It's really a tough challenge to write something 'interesting'! Anyway! Accepted. I think concept of Audio book is good for kids - they would like to listen to stories. Might be some background music would have been more entertaining. Still, you know - kids make the world impossible for you by hitting your brain hard with impossible questions! So, the audio book will deprive them of their birth right! For us, I think an audio book will not be that much exciting. Oh! BTW, we used to listen to a program in our local radio station. In that program, an eminent actor of our locality would recite stories from different books. The program was a big success. Still I'll not rescind my presumption that listening to the audio version of books will be more enjoyable in comparison to the hard paper books. The aroma of paper itself makes the reading more pleasurable. Is not that so?

I really like to read authentic novels. As those are written in my mother tongue, so, I think sharing Titles won't be of much help.

I don't mind listening to an audiobook once in a while, like when I am exercising. In fact, I sometimes use it to motivate me to go to the gym in order to continue hearing the book. But I don't like ebooks. I will always prefer the printed word to computer reading. I like to hold a book, feel the pages, I even enjoy the smell of a book. :)

I have audio books in my computer. But I haven't had the time to even hear one whole book yet. When listening, I do something else and it distracts me from hearing the audio book. I still prefer reading materials. I find reading e-books more convenient than listening to an audio book.

Personally I would rather read the book myself.I get distracted easily and I have two kids that bother me all the time when I am having me time. So i would rather read the book that away i can selectively hear whats going on around me and I have the choice to take that book when I am waiting a while somewhere, like the doctor offices .

I like listening to audio books when I'm resting my eyes in bed. I don't think it is cheating. I'm just too busy during the day to find enough time to read. I would rather listen to an audio book than read an ebook. Ebooks hurt my eyes more than reading text on MyLot.

I would rather not download something to read, when I don't even read real books most of the time. And audio books sound cool and all, but honestly, I never really think about doing things like that. Even though I am far too lazy to read books on my own, not to mention too busy, I have never tried audio books before. They sound interesting to me, like a book I could have read to me while driving. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime.
