A seven-year-old hanged herself with a pink dressing gown cord while watching a Bratz movie on Mother's Day, an inquest heard.
Siana Hannon, who was described by her family as their 'little princess', was found in her bedroom by her mother, with the DVD still running in the background.
Just 30 minutes earlier she had been happily playing with her three younger brothers.
The inquest recorded a verdict of misadventure after it could not decide whether Siana had been attempting to copy anything she saw in the film.
The PG-rated film does not feature any suicide scenes but does involve a storyline about a girl upset about the separation of her mother and father, and Siana's parents live apart.
I have seen some animated shows and have been baffled just how they could have been suitable for the children. Now with this happening, I wonder if the authorities would be more stricter and discerning with similar animated shows. I hope so, how are about you?

I haven't seen the film in question, but blaming the media for incidents like this is ridiculous.
to blame a film instead of things happening in her life is like saying that someone who throws themself in front of a train does it because of the shoes they're wearing, and not because they're in huge amounts of debt, their wife left them and their child was murdered.
maybe it was her favourite film, and she wanted to have something good to focus on in her last moments on earth.
having separated parents in a film does not make it unsuitable for children. for many children it helps them to deal with the fact that their situation isn't unique, and they're not the only people whose parents are not together, and that it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with their life.
she was probably being bullied at school or something.
