I had severe dandruff years ago. I thought I am already sick because my scalp all over head is flaky and itchy. I've been to dermatologists more than three times and they gave me prescriptions which worked but my dandruff came back again. And now, I realized what's the cause of my dandruff. First, it was really stress. I was working then on a very stressful company, too many works and I had to deal with balancing work and family. I've resigned from it because I decided life is too short to live that way. Now I'm more peaceful working at home, though less money, but more peace. And my dandruff is not going back anymore. Second is, the dermatologic shampoo Nizoral. It really never fails to treat my dandruff whenever it comes back occasionally but I should only use it once or twice a week because it's too strong and it will make your hair dry. And the third is my everyday shampoo Clear. It's quite strong too but not that strong that it makes my hair dry. And then I also use Creamsilk conditioner to condition my scalp twice a week as my hair and scalp becomes oily when I use it more often.

hi my dear friend, dandruff is caused because of yeast. it is the primary cause for it. over activity of oil gland can also be the cause of it. if you have stress , than first remove that, because it can also trigger it. a high sugar intake can also cause dandruff. these are certain very commom things which you have to look in yourself and if you have them, then first remove them and then the dandruff. there are many anti dandruff shampoos in the market. but i think to take of everything in your body as well as what you eat, your eating habbits, everything counts. if you take proper care of them, your skin, your hair will all be beautiful.if you are beautiful from inside, i mean if you are healthy, your skin and your hairs will show that.
i once had dandruff, i used Nizoral.its good and was recommended to me by my doctor. i had this dandruff because of some medicine which i was taking after pregnancy . i think the shampoo is very good . otherwise i have not use any anti dandruff shapoos which are in the market. my doctor only told me to take care of my diet rather than using any hard shampoos to remove the flakes on my scalp. and not to use hot water while washing your hairs. it will erode the scapl. your oil will all be washed.

That is a very good comment aweins. Nicely written. And thanks for the advise on not using hot water. I am using hot water these days daily when I take a bath because of the cold season, I can't bear the temperature. Maybe I'll keep the water in the minimum temperature that I can tolerate and use lots of conditioner to make up with the oil that will be lost when taking a bath.

Hi there, I used to have a slight dandruff problem a few years ago. I used Head & Shoulders shampoo around 3 times a week for a whole year and now I don't have dandruff anymore. I think the fact that you have conciously reduced the stress levels in your life will be the most significant change with your dandruff though. Good luck

Yes, I think so too. I've also used Head and Shoulders before but it did not fit me as I still got dandruffs. Maybe it really depends on hair types. Thanks!

I think there are different reasons for dandruff, so different shampoos or methods work for different people/times. I use Head and Shoulders for a few weeks, then switch off to a mild, natural shampoo and use vinegar for a rinse. Either way works well for awhile, then stops working so I switch to the other.
