Does myLot have a English-only policy?

Are we allowed to start discussions and respond to those discussions in other languages besides English? I have never seen this done and am curious to know the answer because mylot has many international members. I read someone was reported for responding in a foreign language. So are we supposed to only speak English at mylot?

This is what it says in the 'Do's' part of the Guidlines: Post in English, unfortunately the staff at myLot is not bilingual. Guess that answers your question

Oh yeah! I forgot about that. It has been a while since I read the guidelines. I guess I should head over there right now to review them. Happy mylotting!

Oh did I already get a BR? That was quick I guess many will think I'm a fanatic about the Guidelines here but knowing them fairly well does help both in advising others and avoiding pitfalls - and getting a super speedy BR

I do not think anyone could have said it better than the way you did. I agree with you in that knowing the guidelines fairly well will always be more beneficial to you than a waste of time. Happy mylotting!

See, Here in myLot, we have a members from the different states of the different countries, and they have different languages as their mother tongue, the regional languages. If every one will post the dicussion in their own locan languages, how the others can able to understand the same and give their responses?? Due to this reason, myLot has fixed the unonimous languages, which has been understandable by all over the world which is "English". And alsot "English" is the common language for the computer know.. Even though if we have a option to use the other regional languages in the computers, the english is the default one, this will help everyone can able to participate in this forum. Have a good day.

That makes a lot of sense and I understand why mylot would do it. Maybe they should make a separate site for each language so like we have a Spanish site and a Chinese site and so on. That would be cool.

I think having different versions will let us learn that language and practice using it like many people do with English.

Hi snam23! Even in the absence of an express provision or rule in MYLOT about using English as the language in our discussions, it is reasonable and common sense that we should use ENGLISH as the basic language here. As you mentioned, this community has an international members. Hence, ENGLISH is the most declared language all over the world. Major number of countries use and can speak and understand English, that is why. Happy mylotting!

That is very true. But it could help us learn how to speak and write other languages, although I guess we could do that through PM. English is probably the most widely spoken language even if it is not the most spoken language around the world. Anyway, thanks for your help and happy mylotting!

Hello, I am not that much strong in english. It would be better if i could speak in my own language. But in mylot if we want to speak in our own language then we will be merely able to respond to other. There will be a big problem in communication.
