Dieting and Size Zero

January 11, 2009 3:29pm CST
I just want to know everyones views on the size zero debate? I follow the weightwatchers plan because I want to lose weight, but Im not dieting to get down to a size zero, in my opinion thats just rediculous! I would look wrong. I mean dont get me wrong, if your naturally a size zero, and cant seem to gain weight, then thats not your fault, but why are teenage girls feeling the pressure to starve themselfs down to these teeny tiny sizes? x

I don't agree with poeple dieting to size zero!!! It is far far far to thin, when I was younger I was always a size 10 until I moved away from home and am now a size 14 anyway I am trying to loose weight but would never want to be that thin, I feel sorry for young girls and those who want to make it in countries such as America as there is so much pressure on them to be super skinny!! I watched a prog the other night and a tv person admitted openly that they would ask people to loose weight for a tv role!! That is so wrong I would tell them where to go if someone said yes you can have a job but need to drop 3 dress sizes, that is so wrong in my mind, like you I feel for people that can't put weight on. There is to much pressure in the media and with celebs for people to be skinny and it surely isn't healthy. :-)

Yeah I am and the prog was on last week, Claire someone, can't think of her surname (she was lyndsey corkhill in Brookside) could eat what she wanted for 2 weeks (I think) and they measured her and she did a fitness test before and after, she went from a size 10 to a size 14 just by eating what she wanted when she wanted and not exercising much. It was amazing really!!

A size zero isn't so bad when you are a short person but I was a size zero for a long time and I looked awful since I am 5 feet 7 inches tall. It took me a long time to gain weight (believe it or not gaining weight is just as hard as losing weight) so I didn't look like a string bean with boobs. I am now a size 6 to 8 depending on the clothes brand I buy. My doctor says I could gain another 10 pounds and still not look fat. I think these models who the teens see on/in the magazines have a lot to do with them wanting to be so slim. Little do they know how unhealthy most of them are. But being a model is what most every teenager girl dreams of today... so it is a battle for the parents to get them to eat right. I went through this with my youngest daughter and it was hard to get her to eat because she was so afraid she would gain an ounce and her modeling instructor would be mad. I was happy when she finally gave up this notion and began to eat right. Yeah size zero is for those who have a hard time putting on weight and should not be a goal to be reached by anyone, teenager or otherwise unless you are very short.

There is no worry about me ever wearing a size zero. But when my daughter went from girls sizes to junior sizes she was a zero. When I was a teen they didn't even have zero sizes. Anyway she wears a 3 now and I hope she never thinks she has to be a toothpick to be attrative.
