I've always prefered AVAST. it catches viruses that other anti-virus dont even notice. i once used a flash on a system with Eset anti-virus, but the system did have MSWORD. so i changed to a system with Avast anti-virus............in other to use msword, and the avast discovered that my flash had a virus. Which do u use for ur system, and which do u plan to use in the nearest futher, and why?.

hey dude, my recommend is three. they are 1.AVIRA AntiVir. It's a Germany product. It has simple control panel and high detection rate also. It has got the Golden award of AV-Test last year. and it has free verison which u don't need worry about lincese. It's high rate all depends on its heur tech.I love it. 2.AVG.Its percursor is ewido, which also has free verison. ewido hasn't been update no longer until Dec.25th last year. and all of this has been integrated to AVG AntiVirus v8.Maybe U know,AVG also takeover famous 'Linkscanner', an useful tool to prevent your web surfing security. 3.McAfee.It's a big company which has most occupancy of antivirus industry. and its new 'Artemis' tech is base on newest 'Clouding' concept. which has prospect of detect more unknown malicious file. and McAfee also has HIPS module in its product if u are familiar with these. u can take full advantage of it. hopes these proves helpful :-)

I would definitely go for the AVG 8.0 antivirus product as this is free. I use it myself and I have had no problems with it. I run a scan of my system every Saturday and it seems to pick up everything. Just in case you are interested in this product here's the website: http://free.avg.com Good luck. Andrew

I have been using Avanquest System Suite for the last 3 years. I've never had a problem, but I'm overly cautious anyway. I paid about $30 for the program and update annually for about $15. It's cheap! I don't want to open a can of worms, but how do you know these free programs actually caught a virus that some well known programs did not? Does it just tell you that or does it actually do it? Just a thought. I've used Norton in the past. I don't like it. I had bad experiences with it wiping out my start and run options. The customer service was horrible. I couldn't understand the accent and they kept telling me to do the things I'd already done before calling them. Anyway, that's another story. Just a tidbit of wisdom for those who do not know....when you run an antivirus program with a firewall (most are all one program now) make sure you turn OFF the windows virus and firewall. If you don't, some things can and will cancel each other out. It's sort of a math thing. I've heard other people give thumbs up to the free programs you're talking about. That's fine. If it works, use it. Best of luck to you!

I will install two anti-virus software, Avira and AVG. Both are free version. I use two anti-virus as two gate keepers for my notebook. Currently, just install one anti-virus is not enough. However, if I install three anti-virus is too heavy for my CPU usage. That's why I choose to install two of them. The reason I choose Avira and AVG is FREE and update frequently. Moreover, the CPU usage is low although I run both software at the same time.

I would recommend the antivirus program called AntiVir, it is free and has caught bugs that some programs I bought did not. Updates at least weekly, if not more.
