Is city wide wireless internet possible in the near future?

The city I live in has city wide wifi already. There is only one small problem with it as far as I am concerened. They only allow you an hour each 24 hours. I for one like to be online much more than just 1 hour not to mention sometimes there are discussions that are on mylot that last longer than an hour. But I do think that city wide wireless is not only an possibilty it will become the norm.

so do you have to pay for this city-wide wireless? (im guessing no since its only one hour per day?) and is there a way that you can pay for this city wide wireless and use it unlimited?

I wonder if it'll end up being like cell phones where you can get service pretty much anywhere.
