This sis second hand so I don't really know if its true or not, if it is its pretty stupid. My little brother told me this story, In salt lake city utah a man caught a skunk in a humane trap. He called the local ASPCA and told them he had the skunk and they told him to leave the skunk in the trap. The trap was in the hot sun so he moved it and gave the animal some water. because he moved the trap out of the hot son and gave the animal some water to keep it from dehydrating he now has a huge fine to pay! They say its animal cruelty. How is that cruelty wouldn't leaving it in the sun be more cruel?

It wouldn't surprise me if this is true. I support the SPCA (Canada's version of the ASPCA) but they do a lot of really dumb things. My ex boyfriend had some cats living under his house, he thought that he had sealed the opening shut but apparently he didn't and one of the strays ended up having kittens under there. He managed to get the kittens out once they were old enough to be adopted, keeping one and giving the other two to a friend. He then spent weeks getting the last few strays to get close enough to him so he could catch them and bring them to the animal shelter. Once he finally managed to do it the people at the SPCA tried to make him sign a form saying that he was abandoning an animal and that he could never adopt a pet from them! All he was trying to do was rescue the poor things and he was treated like a criminal. After that I lost a lot of faith in them.

Oh good grief! And it probably would have been worse for the guy if he had left the poor skunk out in the sun! Someone is abusing their authority I think!

It is just like charities for people. Th thought is right in the creation of these organizations, but marred by the people who run them. What should be a protective device in play for animals has become instead a power play for a small individual.
