My parents went crazy when they found out my brother Jim is gay. They actually kicked him out of the house. But, as time went by they started to cool off and start to accept him and his partner Bob. My father before he died wanted to see Jim and his partner Bob which to me meant that he accepted my brother Jim and Bob. I am really happy for my brother and Bob. My mom started to accept them too especially after the death of my father. She is lonely and they come often to visit her and take care of her. I live far away from my mom and so is my sister.

I personally have never really understood why people get so bent out of shape when they find out a loved one is gay. The person that they love is still there and still the same person that they always have been, they just have different preferences then there parents. I would accept my children for how they are and be happy that they are happy.
My family flipped when they found out one of my cousins was gay. I thought it was fine--let him be who he wants to be as long as he is not hurting anyone.

I think it would be better for both parents and child if they just accept it like it is. My parents hoped that my brother changed. Of course he cannot and why should he? being gay is who he is and they should leave him alone.I saw my mother cried and blamed on herself. It's tooo much of unessary drama. My father was ashamed of my brother so he kept the fact my brother is gay secret. In a sense, he was in closet too. It was too much drama.
