Chocolate Covered Bacon - Would you try it?

In California and Minnesota they have been selling chocolate covered bacon. I guess they call them pig lickers. It is bacon, covered with dark chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt. It was a big hit at the Minnesota State Fair. It started out as a joke just to see how people would react. Well, they reacted alright. People are eating it. I don't think I could ever eat chocolate covered bacon. What about you? Would you at least try it? What if someone gave you a free sample? Not me. I would just say, no thanks. LOL

I would try a sample but I dont think it would be something that I would buy on a regular basis... How would you cook it or is it already cooked? Very Interesting.

taking an already prepared one at the grocers will be easier and simpler than preparing one's own. but this product is not available at the stores where i am currently situated. this kind of prepared food is in fact unheard of around here. it is not a farfetched probability though that there are some kitchens where this has been prepared for sometime now. most of us prepare foods to our liking and these are not commonly done in other places. so we have delicacies which are only prepared in a few homes. i wonder if candied fried pork is also common in your place. this is a favorite among my kids.

Oh my goodness, candied fried pork, not that I am aware of. Then again, I was only aware of the chocolate covered bacon when I started this discussion. So this is a treat to your children huh? I must say that I am a lover of almost every part of the pig (almost), I even like pickled pigs feet. This is a huge treat for me. But I just can't imagine eating any part of the pig sweetened. Thanks for adding to this discussion, and have an enjoyable evening.

I guess the candy companies are the ones who have came up with this. So they are selling it in their booths just like chocolate covered nuts or anything else. In that case, it would already be prepared when you purchase it from the store. Thanks for your response in this discussion eaforeman6 and in all of the other ones that I have talked to you in. Have a great day today myLotting!

Oh my goodness. LOL That's two for two. I do enjoy chocolate, but I don't even like some of the fillings that they put in those mixed chocolate box of candies. So I am sure I wouldn't like the bacon in it. It just makes you wonder what they are going to come up with next. Thanks for your response, and have a great day!

i am already considering of preparing chocolate pork for tomorrow. funny, but i have come across a discussion sometime ago where a mylotter has been cooking choco chicken. now, this has fired my imagination about putting some chocolate to the pork which i shall be cooking tomorrow. by coincidence, i came across your discussion. it will not be bacon though. it is ham which i will cooking for breakfast. nice, huh? now i am imagining that it must taste good if that choco bacon was indeed such a good hit at the fair.

Well, if the sweetened pork was such a treat to your children, I am sure that they would like the choco ham. I myself don't care too much for chicken, let alone eating it with chocolate on it. I prefer mine Kentucky (KY) Fried. LOL I hope everyone enjoys your breakfast that you are fixing tomorrow. Sounds pretty interesting, but I think I'd pass. LOL Have a good day!

Hi there! You see, I love chocolate and I love bacon but together that just seems like an odd combination! I would try it if someone offered me a free sample as I don't think you can ever really have an opinion on such things until you have tried it for yourself. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it thought as it sounds a bit yucky for me!

LOL, yeah you're right missberlee. I couldn't even imagine who came up with the idea. And like they said in the article, it was just a joke to begin with. I guess it just goes to show that different people have different tastes. I love bacon. I could eat it every day for breakfast, but I just cannot imagine bacon with chocolate. Eewwww!

I know a lot of people like chocolate and they would find this very interesting. I hope it spreads across the nation so that more people can try it. I know it is popular in California and Minnesota right now. Which are two totally different parts of the nation, so it should become more spread out sometime soon. I hope you get a chance to try it. Thanks for your response my125125 in this discussion, and have a great day!

Hm.. the sweet stuff mixed with oily bacon.. talk about junk. I don't like bacon so i don't think i will try it. I think mixing it like that gives it a very savory taste, so if you can't decide between sweet or saltish savory snacks choose chocolate bacon

Hi Antioxidant and thank you for your response in this discussion. Maybe that's why I wouldn't like it. I don't really care for the salty sweet stuff. Like kettle corn, have you ever tried that? Eeww, I think that stuff is nasty, but some of my friends and family just love it.
