Do you write morning pages?

I've read and re-read The Artist's Way several times since purchasing this book in 1998. I love the concept, principles, and practices this book encourages. However, it's difficult for me to stick to writing morning pages. I keep a regular paper journal that I write in periodically throughout the day. The mornings here are so hectic and the kids are up so early . . . I can't imagine getting up earlier than they do. Do you write morning pages? If so, do you find it a struggle to complete them each day? If not, have you tried?

I have not read the Artist's Way, but have done a search on Amazon and will certain get that book. Every morning, I write in my journal after meditating. It is amazing what comes to mind during those quiet moments and quite often I have found something to write about on my website or blogs.. :-) Derek

I found your discussion was written in year 2009, that's 9 years ago. I just knew about Morning Pages a few days ago, and I like the idea. I don't write on paper journal, but type it. I have already been waking up very early before the kids, as when they are around, I won't be able to do my work. Hence I just added this to my morning routine. So far, I am doing good, but I forgot about it yesterday as my kids woke up early too.

I too have read "The Aritist's Way". It is a great inspirational book especially for writers. I try to write morning pages, but will admit that I struggle with it. I often just jump into what I am currently writing. I feel guilty though if I don't do a morning page. I know that I am more productive when I do them, it just feels like there isn't enough time. Keep plugging at it...who says you have to do them in the morning, lol.
