Yes, and I don't see how people can go around nasty like that. It is one thing to get a little dirty or smelly from working. It is entirely something different to go from day-to-day living in filth. I see nothing wrong with telling people that they need to wash and clean up. I also see nothing wrong with refusing to associate or deal with people who do not take any more pride in themselves than to go in public stinking and wearing dirty clothes. Unfortunately, my job will not allow me to do so. Another job I used to work at brought me into contact with an old man who smelled like he hasn't taken a bath/shower since the early 1950's. He would come in to our location smelling like sweat, body odor, and piss. It has been almost a year since I worked there, but I can still smell that old man right now just sitting here thinking about it. It was so bad that some of our people would literally throw up after having to deal with him. It got to the point that most of them refused to assist him when he came into the office. People have tried to tell the old man that he needs to at least go jump in a river every now and then if he isn't going to wash regularly, and people have even offered to buy him some soap if he can't afford it, yet he doesn't seem to care. If he is still alive, I am sure that he still stinks just as bad today as he did the last time I saw him, and I am sure the people who still work in that office are still being forced to endure this when he comes in. It is for this reason that businesses should be allowed to tell people like this to leave and not to come back. I know I certainly would have if I could...

Oh my god I so hate that! People just do not realize that by not bathing and taking care of themselves they are putting others off who are near them. But then again, you also have those who bathe constantly, but still have an stench to them.

And why is it those people always sit next to you on the train or bus, it's like, nooooo go away! How much is a bar of soap? Even the poorest person can afford to keep themselves clean, it's not the cost, it's the pride you should take in being clean! I have a sensitive nose at the best of times and sometimes I wish you could turn your senses off like a switch. I do try to avoid these people and it's worse when you have to work with them as well, now that is a nightmare!

You are so right about that they just don't think how bad they smell and a bar of soap isn't that expensive when it comes to be clean I like to get as far as I can away from them. cd

Oh yes!!! I used to work with a woman who was quite a large lady (to say the least) and while I have nothing against large people, this particular person's personal hygeine left a lot to be desired. Her hair was always greasy, her skin looked horrible and her clothing was always stretched and out of shape and really just hung off of her. I worked with her for a number of years and she was a nice enough person once you managed to get past all the external trappings and find the person underneath. Finally one day something happened - heaven only knows what though! She started washing her hair, wearing earnings, buying new clothes that fit her properly and not all black stuff either and even started wearing a little make up. We never did find out what happened to cause the improvement, but speculation ran rife - we figured she had found herself a man!

It's gross and disgusting and personally I can't understand how one cannot smell themselves. I just can't imagine that one could not care to take care of themselves. Nasty. To me, public should shun them they should not be allowed to be in public stinking it up much less getting help because of it. I found out last week that there's this person collection Social Security because of not being able to find a job because of not taking a shower. That's ridiculous. I just can't imagine how the gov't will pay someone benefits for that when they can definitely go to a lake and wash up or something. I remember when we were kids and our pump went. It was going to be awhile before my parents could afford one, well we trucked water, boiled it, etc., and we never shirked on cleaning ourselves. There's no need for it. Just pure and simple laziness and I can't believe people get paid for it!

OMG I know exactly how you feel. I as a woman will shower every day taking care to wear deodrant, perfume and other femine things. How ever I work in a small office very small mind you. There are usually betwee 3 and 5 of us in this office at any given time. Now when I say small I mean small we all sit next to each other and needless to say if someone is not fresh or clean we can smell it. I have to work with 3 family members that I have to assume only shower once a month weather they need it or not. I have gone to our boss regarding the matter as its really disgusting to have to sit at work and smell someone that refuses to use deodrant or to take a shower. My boss has asked them time and again to please be considerate of the people that they work with and that not every one wants to smell their foul body odor. I just dont understand the lack of consideration for others.
