I got a big surprise

when I met the new guests of the Villa where I work part-time. I was nervous as the villa has been rented to a very high profile singer from the USA and I honestly did not know what to expect. I had met his wife as she came to view the villa before renting it for 6 weeks and she was charming. But I was still worried, as he is a VIP and I so wanted things to go well. Well, I met him today during my lunchtime and there he was, a middle aged down to earth guy - just like anyone else. You would pass him in the street without giving a second glance. This was a pleasant surprise and then, whilst driving back to the office, I wondered if anyone on Mylot had met or seen a celebrity who wasn't at all what you had expected?

I travel quite frequently to Vegas. One night while at a show a gentle man came into the theater surrounded by what seem to me to be body guards. They asked me if I could please move over one seat that they had someone that really wanted to sit in my seat. I was taken aback but figured sure why not. I moved over one seat allowing him to take my seat. He sat down and said thank you I almost feel out of my seat when I looked to the man that had taken my seat. I was and I am not joking Michael Jackson. He was in vegas for a very short visit and he had come to see the same show I was at.. The Commodors. Which by the way was an awsome show.

Lets just say that after I realized who it was sitting next to me I could not tear my eyes away long enough to watch the show. I can still remember listening to the music and thinking it was coming from a far off place. LOL. I had to get more tickets so that I could watch the show again. The second time around was a good show.

Hi ya cynthiann That sounds like a nice surprise, who was it by the way? G'won you can tell me I won't tell anyone, honest!! Hahaha. I once worked in a health club and saw this man walk in with his wife and I instantly recognised him. She approached the desk and he stood behind her not saying a word. I was so embarrassed that I could barely look her in the eye but I dealt with her and her husband almost as I would any other customer but it was so hard, I didn't want them to see how red my face had gone!!

Yes it was totally unexpected and at the time he was in a soap that I used to watch all the time, I never missed an episode!!

I'm sure that if you had known he was coming then you would have been composed not getting flustered. I think it is the spur of the moment thing. I mean, I knew for months that this man was coming but it wasn;t until yesterday that I was nervous. Meantime everyone, pray that he sun keeps shining.

I am sure that I would have blushed too. Is it because it was unexpected? I just don't know why we would blush.

Years ago I took my brother to see Hamlet when Keanu Reeves was playing his role. While I was there I noticed someone who I recognized sitting in the front row. I wanted to make sure I wasn't seeing incorrectly so I walked by her and it was her. I went and introduced myself and explained that we were from the same town and she was friendly. My son's dad was working on shift at a hospital while he found this credit card on the ground and decided to turn it into the lost and found when he was reading the name on it and it said Patrick Swayzee. (I know I spelled his name wrong). He was in shock when he realized who's credit card he had. The hospital held onto it until Patrick Swayzee came to pick it up. My ex works in a hospital where they shot some films. Shannon Doherty (from 90210) was also there too.

Ooh, I'm curious as to who it is. The only major celebs I've met are baseball players. I was really into baseball in my late teens, and I got to meet Derek Jeter before he was a famous player. Some of them are really nice, but others are really rude. I guess it's the same with any celebrity. Some are nice and try to sign as many autographs as possible while others just ignore you and try to pretend you don't exist.

Well that's just making me even more curious. There are so many middle aged singers that could lose a few pounds, that's really not helping to narrow it down. Oh well, let us know who it is once they've left, will ya?

I wish that I could tell you but they are staying 6 weeks and I would lose my job! This is my part time job. I was so taken a back but he is really kind and so natural. In the end we were both bemoaning that we had to lose weight around our middles! He's hoping to lose some weight whilst here before his next concert but we have the best cook in town so that is not likely, unless he is really serious. This is a place where Will Smith and Al Pacino have stayed. Plus other top USA singers. This one surprised me though.

Actually I have. I have met a Country Singer and a professinal fottball player both. Both were very ordinary people and did not want to draw attention to themselves at the time. The pro football player I actually had dinner with and didn't even know who he was! But then again I'm not into football! LOL He found it amusing.

You have just reminded me about something. About 15 years ago the person - I think his name is Jimmy Buffet landed by private plane at small airport and came into my office. He was surrounded by his entourage and I was introduced to him. The it became obvious to everyone that I did not know who he was. I was so embarrassed but he htought it funny. I really have led a sheltered life!

As a musician I've met a lot of people who would be considered celebrities in their particular fields, but not in the sense that some of those you mention are. The sort of music I have played has been classical when I was young and acoustic folk through most of my career. However I have met one relatively famous person, Colin Hay from Men At Work. He is actually a very good folk musician, that was his roots, and I actually got to jam with him at one of the festivals we both appeared at. Lash

I have always thought that celebrities were just ordinary people who had earned money through their talent. I have never had a fascination for someone just because they were famous. I know some of them let it go to their heads and can end up in trouble but they are not gods or anything special. I am glad that he was a nice person and since he was middle aged he has probably settled down quite a lot.

Good for them. Well matched people will also be fine as long as nothing drives them apart. Musicians often have a wild youth. I think it goes with the territory.

Yes, I read up on him online and saw that he did have a wild youth. Same wife though for over 25 years and they seem so much in love.

This is beyond weird. Every time I reply to this post, it disappears. Surely mentioning a celebrity's name isn't against guidelines?

My response is still here so I'm going to try and tell the story again! It had to do with the bridge club that my mom used to work at. Guy named D*ck Yarmy was a regular there. D*n Adams, who starred in the original Get Smart on TV, came in with him one evening to play bridge. And he kept totally to himself. I don't think I heard him say more than 2 words. But then I'm guessing he just didn't want the attention.

I wouldn't have htought so. It is sad if the guy kept to himself and didn't relax and enjoy himself. Perhaps he thought that anything said maybe taken down and used against him! Lol

This reminds me of my niece who at the time was maybe only around 13. It was July 4th weekend and our little town was having the General Lee Celebration and Lee Greenwood was the main attraction. Well when he came out on stage she went crazy , you would have thought she was at a rock concert , The funny part is she was screaming and did not even know who he was . Needless to say she mananged to get herself up front and was screaming like someone was chasing her with a machete or something . Well Mr. Greenwood found this amusing so he asked her name and she told him, he took her hand and shook it . OHHHHH Lord , for the next week all I heard was I'm never washing this hand again. And I believe if I hadn't made her wash her hands she probably wouldn't have washed it ever again.........lol

Last year I was working at a boat show and met Bill Murray. Real nice guy, was there with his sons. Did not get to sell him a boat though. Working with a boat dealership I have met several tv fishing show host and football players, all have been real nice. Larry Czonka is a real great speaker. Received an award from Jack Nicholson, hand shake, take picture and get off stage.

Well, back when I worked at our Local Airport I had the Chance to meet James Duhan and talk with him. He was the original Scottie from Star Trek. And in 2007 when my husband and I were in NYC he got the priviledge of shaking hands with Cuba Gooding Jr. It was so awesome to see these 2 upclose. And who was the Singer you got a chance to see?

I'll let you in on it when they have left. I am not crazy over celebrities but it is just that you don't know how they are going to treat the staff. Or if they are going to act over the top - like I am a star business. If anyone, and I mean anyone, disrespects the staff then I refuse for them to come back.Blessings

Hey cynthiann! Well who is this mystery celebrity? Would I know who it is? I'm glad that they were nice people! There really are some celebrities who are nice so they say! I haven't met any so I couldn't tell you! I'm glad that things are going well for you at your part time job at least! You should have less stress at one of your jobs! I just wish it could be that way at your full time job too!

YOu are so kind. The part time job is one I adore. I think that I like making people happy. I suppose in this world that I would be called a 'pleaser'. and if I am, then so what? We do have celebrities but I would lose my job if I spoke the name. He is working on a new cd. They are lovely people. Regular, down to earth - I am hoping that all will be well.
