Can't get a tune out of your head... What do you do?

I was saying to someone on another music related topic, about when you get a tune in your head that you just don't like but is so catchy you can't stop thinking about it or sometimes singing it. It happened to me a few times. I'd find myself singing a song that I just hated and couldn't figure out why. Why do you think we sometimes can't stop singing a song even though we hate it, and what do you do to stop it?

did you have a relative or a freind that has passed on that may have liked the song you hear ? think about it, if yes then that is there way of saying hello to you. thats is a sign from them

I liked your response and I would consider it, but usually its a new song I hate but everyone loves, you hear it everywhere and it somehow gets into your head and won't leave even though you don't hear it as often. But a nice response, I think it could be possible if it were less recent songs.

I agree that it's probably because the tune is catchy and it just sticks in our head. What I always do is actually listen to the song that I can't get rid of and that usually does the trick. Or I put on music that I like and start to sing other songs and that one gets forgotten pretty quickly! It's weird when I wake up thinking of a song and it gets stuck in my head, then when I turn on the radio, that's the song that's playing. That's happened to me a bunch of times! Totally weird.

Yeah, I get freaked out when I'm thinking of a song and I turn the television on and it's playing or I go into a place and it's on. The weirdest time was when I was singing a song at home, a older song and it was on the television and in about three different stores that day, but that was quite a wile back. Guess I got so weirded out that I can't forget it lol. I'm guessing it must happen to more people...

That happens to me a lot...getting a song stuck in my head. Very annoying if it's a song I really don't like. Sometimes the only way I can get rid of a song I hate is to replace it with an equally annoying song. I I'm suddenly reminded of that scene from Wayne's World, where Wayne and Cassandra are in the car discussing exactly the same topic. Then they begin to sing: "Oh, Mickey, You're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind. Hey, Mickey!" There, did that help you any?

I've found myself singing a song that I actually hate many times. I think it's just because it has a catchy tune, even though I don't care for it. Try singing something else, something equally catchy but more enjoyable.

This happens to me a lot too. And yes, usually it's the kind of music that annoys you since a song is more likely to get stuck if it's repetitive. For me, I think that LSS is like a cold, you just have to let it pass. :)
