where do you put your change?

I have been stuffing change everywhere all in my closet for months. In jars, old purses, boxes, and so on. I have even found change in my jewelry boxes and shoes, under the beds, in my car ashtray! I gathered it all up and dumped it in a coin star machine. I was surprised at what all those little coins add up too. Many people, such as my brother just throw away their change. His truck is always such as mess and when you open the door everything comes out..even many pennies, and he'll say" oh its just a penny...and leave it on the ground. Think of all the people who find money laying on the ground or a penny here and there...all the "oh that's just a penny" sayings. No matter what, money is money people! It just shocks me how all those little worthless little pennies can add up to big money...save your pennies and loose change.

a penny may just be a penny but without it a dollar will never be complete.Me i vale money whether its a penny or a dollar. ( a cent or a peso in my country ). When this pennies are piled up,it will definitely be of a good amount. I keep my losse pennies in a jar,in my wallet and in a box. I hope i will definitely be surprised one day to discover how much my pennies have piled up..

I have this thing for keeping change and then carrying them in my bag when I commute. I save my change for the daily commute, since the fare usually is worth--plain coins. :))

Hi there and Welcome to myLot! I keep my change in a big water bottle, the kind you see on a water cooler. Every year I empty it around Christmas and use it to help with little extras. Take care...

hi sapphiresilk! I used to be careless with the change I have. The coins are just everywhere but things have change around here. haha..I keep them and save them in a jar until I fill it up. Once it is full, I take it to the bank. haha..Every little change is worth keeping especially nowadays. Take care and have a nice day! lovelots..faith210

Any extra change I find usually goes into my daughters piggy bank. She cashed in 1 time at CoinStar. As of now she will have to start sharing with her 7 week old lil brother.

i love finding change, it's like a game for me. when my boyfriend and i were in college and had no more than two nickels between us, we started what we call the "date fund" with change we found out on walks or from the deposit money we got back returning cans after a weekend party. it became kind of like a hobby after a little bit and what started as kind of a joke ended up turning into a good deal of money! Just from a few simple things most people neglect to do (return their recyclables, stop to pick up a penny, save their 15 cents from purchasing a cup of starbucks, etc) we ended up with enough money for a couple nice dinners out. We don't depend on the date fund for date money anymore, but we do still practice the same habits and have a date fund jar in the kitchen that we're using to save up for a weekend away or something else special, just because! As a sidenote, I was helping my boyfriend do some cleaning at his mother's house not too long ago and we came across so many containers of loose change, we just couldn't resist the temptation to pool it all and count it up for her. She had over $400 in her house that she didn't even realize was there! (granted, one of the loose change bins we found was very sizable and very old!) It may be the dork or the cheapskate in me, but I love the magic of change - it makes me happy :)

i used to have a piggy bank at home when i was little. mind you, i used to be soooo organized before. however, nowadays, it is hard to keep up. with work, with the kids, with our home. so at work, loose change are just everywhere. in my table drawers, on the fridge, tv, sofa, bedroom. everywhere!! sometimes, i find them in pockets when doing laundry. but my new years resolution is to be organized again and to stay focused. so i started that by cleaning the house room by room, all the loose change are now in a happy piggy bank, (which i collect by the way!!!) in the office, i also put a small piggy bank on my table.

We have a large bottle that we throw our change in. Not just the change, but I try to toss in a dollar bill or two each day. And you are right, by all means save those pennies. We have a drink box at work, we fill it and we keep the money. About once every two months we go to the coinstar machine at the grocers with the money saved up from the drink box and cash it in for a voucher. We usually have enough for groceries for a week and a little to put in our pockets.

It depends on what kind of change you are talking about! If you are talking about the coppers and not silver then guess I collect those in a glass jar and fill it right to the top! This can be very useful as that spare change can come in very handy at times. Welcome to My Lot by the way. Happy posting. Andrew

Hi there sapphire and welcome to Mylot! Actually, you won't find me leaving those pennies behind either. I have a coin jar as I call it that I've put all of my spare change into from my wallet, then once or twice a year that I will take it out and roll it. Usually when I do this I get approximately $50.00, so you are absolutely correct those pennies do add up! Take care, and happy Mylotting!

Yeah pennies do add up I save my loose change in a big bucket. I have always saved my loose change and changed it into dollars, a couple of months ago I heard on the news about a little boy who saved $10,000.00 in pennies he donated to his school so that inspired me to save my loose change to see how much I can save.

ususally, i put change into a piggy bank.i draw it every three months, and then use the collected money up.

Yeh, I always pick up loose change if I see it. Some people consider it to be scabby, and I guess it could kinda make you look like a tramp!! But, I agree with Sapphire, when he says that it all adds up! I have a little tin in my room, where I dump any loose change I have or find, like 1 and 2 pence coins. I actually left it for a while, gradually adding to it, and after about a month I had made around £10!! It may not be much, but its not too bad for 1 and 2 pence coins, is it?

I have change everywhere, too - in those big chunky candle holders, in jugs, candy dishes, empty coffee cans, a "junk drawer" in my closet, in my truck's ashtray, and countless other places. If I don't see it, or if it's too much trouble to gather, I won't spend it. Boom! Instant savings account! I gather it all up from time to time, roll it, and deposit into my bank account . . . each time I'm VERY surprised at how much has been stashed! I've thought about doing this with dollar bills, too - stick some in the pages of all my books and, when I'm done, I'll have another "un-noticable" savings stashed. :-)

i usually gather all my change, coins/pennies and put it on my purse/wallet, or in a box, i do even have a tray where i put those pennies, and even pick up those coins/pennies on the ground...and somehow got amazed when i count it and it was really a big amount...well i guess we may not appreciate the pennies if they are lil' but when we try to gather it daily from our change, from those we picked up, it's really a big help that we are amazed that those pennies turn up to big amount...and might even get bigger/higher when we invest it... happy mylotting! GOd bless!

well usually, i'll leave my change in my wallet, and use it up to buy food! If it gets to heavy, i'll then leave it in my draw, where i keep all my change, and when it adds up, i'll start using it :) I always pick up coins if i see them lying around, its helps add up to my savings XD!

I generally keep all my change in a container in my bedroom. I try to keep it all in one place, however sometimes I discover piles of money I didn't even know I had. I always try to pick up any money I see lying on the floor, whether it's a five cent coin or not (our lowest denomination is a five cent coin). I'm the kind of person that looks for change in vending machines. xD

Right now all my change is just sitting on my desk with a few crumpled dollars, heh. I rarely EVER use change to pay for something, I'm just too lazy and it's more work for me. I let the cashier deal with that, and my change pile just continues to grow.

I always pick up change I see on the ground, even pennies. I agree that even little pennies can add up to big money. I have all my change stored in an empty yogurt container (the big economy sized container). Once it fills up, I take it to one of those change sorter machines at the grocery store and cash it in. Usually it adds up to like $50!
