Just wanted to share this info I've learned. Do you guys know that IVF via egg donor is not allowed in our country? I understand that this may be an ethical issue but for a couple like us who has this method as the ONLY option to bear children, I am grateful that nearby countries allow this procedure. Any thoughts?

Is donor sperm allowed? If so, what is the basis for rejecting donor eggs?

I know that many Christians here are opposed to this because it would be uniting a spouse with someone else in a way. It's bringing a third person into the unity of one. Is that the reasoning?

I don't think sperm donation is allowed here either. The country is quite conservative because we're predominantly Catholic

Why isn't it allowed? I think that's interesting. Do you think it'll be legalized in the future, and is it a big issue over there? There's always the option to try the method out of the country.

It's not allowed because the Church doesn't support assisted forms of birth and birth control. It's not much of a big issue right now, more of just limiting the options for couples who want to get pregnant and only have this as an option. Other countries are allowed to do this with the condition that counseling sessions must be attended by the couple so they understand the full extent of the procedure .. and I think that's what should eventually be allowed here ... although with the conservative church having a tight grasp of the country, it might take a while

When I hear things like this it makes me so glad to be living in the USA. I think that as a woman only you can say whats to happen to your body. Not to mention who are we too say no to any woman or couple that would like to have a baby. I hope that you find happiness in the love of a child. I know I sure did.

i think that the country is not yet ready for this technology. Especially, the religious sector. As we all know, the religious sector is against the artificial methods of birth and birth control. How about adoption? Isn't that an option?

Yes, I agree that this issue is not easily accepted. Adoption will always be option for us, still trying other possible alternatives though +)
