Why I am not getting "general"tab in internet options menu of the IE ?

I just wanted to clear my history,delete temporary internet files.
I am using Internet Explorer.
As per the "help" instucions,I have to select tools,then internet options,then the
general tab,from where I can clear history,delete temporary internet files.
But when I opened the internet options menu,I am not finding the General tab.Why I am not finding the general tab ?
What I should do now?

first of all make sure that you operating system is not corrupted.
Remember to select tools from the menu bar, the choose Internet opitons and you should see the general tab there. I would suggest to re install Internet Explorer and check if the problem is sovled or not.
