This is some bull. I have worked for this Ambulance company for little over two years now along with my partner. Today they fired both of us for something that happened Nov. 30, 2008. The incident that happend on Nov. 30 was dispatch gave us a call to go to the airport to pick up a doctor and a patient and take that patient HOME from the airport because her foot was in a cast and couldnt go by anyother means. So we get over to the airport and dispatch tells us that we need to go to international arrivals. THEY NEVER GAVE US A TERMINAL TO GO TO AT ALL. So we repediatly called dispatch and our supervisor trying to figur out what terminal to go to. Finally or supervisor told us to go to the McNamda Terminal and that will take use to the international arrivals where we needed to be and once we got the to just keep going in and checking if they have arrived or not. Did as we were told waited there for 45 min and called dispatch every 10 min to find out the status of the people we were to pick up. So after the 45 min dispatch relized that they had us at the wrong terminal. So we finally got to the right terminal got the patient and took her home like were were suppost to. Anyways the doctor ended up writing in a complaint to the company on Dec 31, 2008 because we were 45 min late. My partner and I both ended up getting suspended from work from Jan 1, 2009 until today when they called us back and fired us over that call. I am mader then hell right now.

Losing your job is not easy. Especially if you love that job and you needed it to sustain your family's needs. That is very awful. Hopefully you already recovered by now because this happened six months ago.

I would be interested to know what reason they gave for firing you. Most companies will automatically suspend for a few days but then to fire you makes no sense. I believe that most emergency dispatches are recorded. Not sure it is required by law but mostly for their own protection. Sounds to me like your supervisor was at fault and is using you as the scape goat. Try to find out about that as you could have a very good case. Have a lawyer check this out. Something is very wrong with this story. You were misled so you had no choice. Someone else is making you the fall guy. If your company normally does record but for some reason this one is missing I think you have your answer. Do not take this without a fight.

I would sue them for wrongful termination or something. I am sure you have a case here if you push the issue. Those radio transmissions between you and your dispatcher are probably recorded, and a judge can order those to be admitted as evidence in your case. I know that all of our radio transmissions between us and our dispatchers were recorded by the 911 center back home when I was a Sheriff's Deputy, so your transmissions were probably recorded as well. I would definitely be talking to a lawyer over this one...

sue them, or take legal action and find out there reasons for firing you. Dont let this go. My cusin works in a mens cloth store and whilest on his shift two of his colegues who did nothing wrong were told right before him not to turn up to work the next day, their reason a typical one they blamed the economy.

reading from your post..i will not blame you guys for what happened because it's all not your fault..i don't think you guys should be fired because you got wrong information from dispatch..i think you guys should write a petition for a review of the managements decision because you did exactly as you were ordered..

I understand your frustration. I was fired from a job in 2008 that I had held for nearly two years. I had been there longer than the boss and she came in one day to tell me she couldn't work with me so she was letting me go. Everyone that knew me was very surprised including the boss I had prior to the new one. Sorry to hear that.

hello babyfirefighter, I'm so sorry that you lost your job today so with your partner. Though you both did what you were told by your boss what to do and where to pick them, I believe they treated you so unfair. They should be thankful that you're there to pick this patient from the air port. Though there was a little bit misunderstanding about the terminal it wasn't your fault anyway. They should not file a complaint against you for you were late for 45 minutes. Your boss should do something about it since he's the one who instructed you.

You can probably fight that, you were fired unjustly. You and your partner should contact your local labor board, and explain to them exactly what happened. I am sure there is a log of the calls you made to the dispatcher, unless they destroyed them to cover their a*ses. I am thinking that since this happened in November, and the doctor did not complain until December, a coverup has already happened. You have rights, contact your labor board as soon as possible.

Ouch that's just sad. It's hard to lose job nowadays. We all hope that you can land a new one as soon as possible. Sheet happens sometimes. We can't always be on top. Atleast this kind of stuffs are still manageable. You still have yourself in great shape and you can find a new job that suits you. Just think of it as a consolation at this moment. Think positive dude..

If everything you are saying here is true and correct , then you have grounds for a wrongful termination law suit . Contact some of your local attorneys , most give a free consultation. Are all call into dispatch recorded? If so have an attorney supeona those calls ASAP......it will help prove your case . Good luck ....... Cheryl

UMMMMM now that is soooo wrong. I would be filing some sort of complaint against dispatch since it is THEIR fault you were not there on time not yours. You should be makin a huge stink about it and do not let it go til you have your jobs back with appologies.

That is stupid for the company to fire you both for something that was not your fault. I would be madder than hell too. It sounds to me like the dispatch person is trying to cover their own butt.

Sad to say - we live in a time today where many employers are insensitive to situations that arise that sometimes we have no control of, I feel your pain.

That sucks, this is a bad time to be losing a job. Dag anytime is a bad time to loose a jog. Just hang in there and remember that everything happens for a reason. Go ahead and cry and be mad and just get it out of your system just remember the sun will shine again. Keep your head up.

The first thing I would do is file a formal complaint regarding the investigation that was conducted. You have the right to see there findings. If they refuse get a lawyer it sounds like wrongful termination. Now mind you that depends on what state,or country your in. Good luck I hope you get your job back.

That is so unfair! It's not your fault that dispatch made a mistake, if anything I think whoever dispatched you should be the one getting fired, I can't beleive that they would do that to you. Is there any way that you can dispute the decision, I mean seriously that doesn't sound like something you should let them get away with. I think that people are just too rushed and that they sometimes make rash decsions, I hope that this is one of those situations and that things get resolved. I hope that you and your partner come through this okay and know that there are a lot of us on Mylot that support you as well.
