I went to the grocery store and got a few items I needed. Next door is a thift store... I thought while my DD2 is in class I would stop in and kill some time. I neded up taking home alot of items.
I found an almost new Nascar Sleeping Bag, Nascar comforter, a WOK (appeared to of only been used 1x), 1 complete set of 26 kids books ( I have one of the books already & I really liked the one we had), a crochet baby blanket (I want to learn the pattern, & if I can't then I'll tear it appart and reuse the yarn), hats, mittens, scarf's, kids roller skates (the ones you learn on and wear with your shoes), a partial set of DISNEY books in new condition, and a FP truck for DS.... for $32.
So when I don't stop in with any intentions of buying anything I come out with some finds...
How bout you?

Can't beat that!
Hence why I'm dying for rummage sale season... Come one April! *LOL* Most of the thrift stores here charge what you'd pay for clothes new on clearance almost wich is sooo crazy. Who'd pay $6-8 for used jeans when if you watch the clearances you can get new for the same price.

That's one reason why I don't often patron GoodWill stores..... they are building fancy buildings, paying pro athletes to endorse their "chairity", paying people nothing, and then charge crazy prices.... Makes no sense to me.
The only sad part is it's rare to find adult clothes at rummages here. When you do they think they can get thrift store or e-bay prices. I'm not paying $3 at a rummage for my size for a generic store brand if they are charging .50 for the kids stuff GRRRRRR........

I know right? A lot of our charity shops charge that too, and we have a big store called primark where you can get brand new jeans for £5 all year round!

I found my sister's birthday gift -- a beautiful fruit bowl for the table or counter. She will be getting it soon. I also pick up lead-glass crystal bowls to use with gifts -- especially when the red tag sale is on at Goodwill. And I have furnished the wall art (pictures) in my bedroom, right out of the secondhand store. It takes some searching and several trips, but I often come home with one I really enjoy.

one of my favourite haunts is a thrift stores which is staffed completely by volunteers (mostly retired people) and they often have antiquey things there and i got a trophy (loving cup type) for $2.00 and on the bottom, there was a sticker that says $95-, so i would say it was a pretty good deal.

Our most recent find was a lazy boy recliner. It was in great shape and we paid ten dollars for it. We usually only go to the thrift store on dollars days.I go then and buy my daughter new jeans.

I wish they had "dollar" deals they have stuff if it has a certain color tag @ 50% off the trick is most of that stuff if out of season & there isn't alot of selection but whatcha going to do? *LOL*

Ours does I think between .60-$5 an item. But of course I look for the corresponding color for that 50% off
deal. I'm usually looking moreso for me though as it's fairly easy to find kids clothes @ rummages but no so much for Adult sizes nonetheless bigger adult sizes either.
And I think they do so much more for the community than goodwill does, as they serve a broader spectrum of people KWIM?

I went today. Came home with curtains for 6 windows at $2.50 apiece.
Four books at $1.00 apiece.
A new purse and wallet for $4.00
And an inspirational item to set on my desk and hold my pens $2.00
I'd just priced curtains for these windows at Walmart. The cheapest I could have gotten them there would have cost $90. and they were just plain blah curtains.
These are embroidered and my total was $15.00. I will say that I got really lucky. I've been looking in the thrifts for quite awhile but it's hard to find 6 that match there. You can find pairs easily and 4 if you're lucky but these 6 windows are all in the same room and I needed them to match. Anyway today was my lucky day.
