Are kids nowadays becoming more spoilt than necessary?

I notice that there are a lot of kids who can be categorized as "spoilt brats" who are arrogant and, well, plain annoying.
Just the other day, a friend of mine told me about her encounter when her boyfriend's younger sister who is only 4 years old. My friend, the sister and my friend's boyfriend went out for a meal and when the boyfriend walked to the counter to order some food, she was alone with the sister. The sister then told her "My daddy, mummy and my brother love me very much. Don't you ever dare to think of bullying me! Because I am far more important than you!"
If I were my friend, I will really give her a lengthy lecture.
And there was this other incident when I was browsing for PS3 games in a store. This 5 years old boy just came to the counter and asked the shopkeeper rudely "Dude, you got XBOX? I don't care how much, I want one NOW. Here's the money" and he put down that big stack of $50 bills on the table.
To me, that's very rude even though he was the customer.
Have you ever encountered something like this before? Do you think parents are treating their children too nice nowadays?

Looking at the positive side, you will need to work hard for the things you want, which is not really a bad thing in the long run.

I think maybe their parents doted on them too much? Thus they will complain even at the slightest of punishments?

Yes, I believe kids nowadays are too spoiled and are in such a hurry to grow up. Sad, they should be enjoying their youth and not grow up at once. I believe media has a great big influence on how they think now. Also, with the technology, kids are now more demanding of gadgets they want regardless of how expensive they are!

Yeah, my cousin who does not even know how much is $1000 is asking her dad who is struggling to make ends meet, to buy her an Apple IPod, and an Apple MacBook! Even me who is earning as much as her dad, does not dare to buy Apple products.

i have met many kids spolit by their parents and grandparents.they are the "sun" or "star" of the family.if they want to get something, their parents will try best to give him or her.i think it is harmful for the kid's growth.they get things done so easy.once they miss it ,they don't care about it.

Parents who only reward and not punish their kids will regret later on. It's not the right way to teach kids.
