Please do not read or respond if you haven't seen this movie and don't want to know plot points I saw this movie yesterday and I really loved it. I found it incredibly touching, and very well made, but I also saw some places where I would say it was heavy-handed in its production (a subtler message might have worked better for me, I mean). Anyway, for those of you who have seen it, I'd love to hear from you to see what you thought. What did you like, what didn't you like. I look forward to hearing from you!

I didn't read the book, but I watched the movie last night. I thought it was very moving but again like so many drama's I failed to see the point of so much drama. HE didn't need to leave the kid. He was still am adult till she was at least 12. Then the lover came back and looked after him as a child and infant in the end anyways. So why couldn't they have just stay together the whole time. They daughter even said she wished she had known him. Children would totally understand that their parent was different. It was a good movie because I did feel something for it. But I wish it turned out different and maybe a bit shorter in length.

I see your point but I think it would have been really strange for the daughter to grow up with a father who's aging backwards. It's a totally different thing to say that you wish you had known your father looking back as an adult; the reality of it would have probably been very strange for her. It's definitely not a short movie, is it? But I really enjoyed it. Thanks for responding!

I just read the ebook of Fitzgerald's story myself, and it was clear that the movie was LOOSELY based on that story! I really loved that movie and I'm glad you did too! Thanks for responding

I didn't like the way that the movie ends. I think that it could ended with Benjamin being buried by his daughter and then they give her the journal.
