What do you think of the term"fancy" when pundits are talking about players?

Watching the football highlights at the moment. I really can't get used to the pundits saying "I really 'fancy' that player", it just sounds like they're confessing a crush, does it stop sounding stupid the more you hear it??

It`s not strange at all. But then again when you work with the Brits they use it all the time.So it`s more of not being used to it.

It must, since I don't ever think anything about it when they say it. Although, I have to admit you are right, it does sound rather silly to say they fancy a player
