Have You Filed Your Taxes Yet?

Yes, I know we are only 2 weeks into 2009 but if you are a single parent like myself then this is an exciting time. You can file your taxes and get your refund. My refund always go toward paying bills that I couldn't afford to pay during the year. This year I will be paying off a loan, paying on an electric bill, & a couple doctor's bills. With what is left, I plan on purchasing a few things that I need around the house such as a microwave stand. I don't have enough counter space for my microwave and I have it sitting on an old tv stand that isn't very sturdy at all. Also, I want to get my son a toddler bed. He is getting too big for his crib and I think he would really like having his own bed like his big sister. Well, I received my W-2 today and I couldn't wait to file my taxes. Yup, I went online at TaxAct.com and filed them. It is so simple to use and it only cost $13.95 to file. Then the money is direct deposited into my checking account. I can't wait to get my refund! So have you received your W-2 yet? Have you filed your taxes yet? Do you normally get a refund? What do you normally do with your refund?

I haven't filed yet - but only because my husband's W2 isn't available until late next week! We use www.taxslayer.com - they let active duty military e-file for free, and they do direct deposit for free too. We should have our returns in early February, at which time I'll be paying off some credit cards and treating myself to at least one vaguely pointless purchase...because you have to spoil yourself sometimes!

Yes, I'm hoping to do a little something special for myself too. I'm not sure what it will be yet. Maybe take a day off work, take the kids to school and the babysitter and just spend the day to myself, maybe go shopping, out to eat, and maybe a trip to the casino or something else that I never get to do.

You go girl! Us mommies deserve a day off to pamper ourselves! Me? I'm thinking DVD shelves. Silly, I know, but I want to display my collection properly, lol

That sounds really nice. I could use some shelves in my kitchen and my bathroom. I might look into something like that for myself as well.

My husband has received his W-2 online but I haven't received mine yet. When that comes in we will file ours together. We have received refunds over the past two years and hope to receive another one this year. It usually goes to bills.

Hey! My employeer posts the form online. I believe they are supposed to post it this week. I just got my tax statement from my loan (cos the interest can be taken as a deduction)...and I have to wait on my saving's account to send me a tax statement due to the interest I made in 2008. Generally I put my refund in my savings account. I may pay some bills, but it's SO nice to actually get some extra money back. I'll be using TaxCut software because H&R block has sent it to me for free. I believe there may be a fee they charge for e-filing...but I LOVE it cos we get the money fast. Yea I normally always get a refund because I claim zero dependants. I used to claim myself but they never took enough taxes out & I had to always end up paying so I claim zero so I can get a big refund. Cheers! Pablo

We can't file our taxes yet. We don't have all of our W-2s yet. However, we're going to file as soon as we can. Get caught up on some things.

I havn't even gotten my w2's yet I am expecting one from my old job and the one I am at right now. I can't wait til I get them for I will file them right away. I have one big thing I want to do with my income tax and that is get me a siberian husky puppy. They are a good 800.00 dollar dog. What I do with the rest of the money will get some stuff I know I need for my apartment.

I haven't gotten my W-2 yet, so, no, I haven'y filed my taxes. I am looking forward to getting them filed though. I have a few bills to pay off too. If there is anything left, I want to get a new laptop. I don't do much of anything for myself all year long, so at this time of the year, I try to do a little something for myself, as well as allow my kids to each get a thing or two they really want.

Actually, this time around I'm going to wait to do my taxes. I learned that some things I have to wait on, plus after the 16th is when the IRS website opens up for efiles from certain tax programs that let me do it for free. TaxAct is a good one, they offer their services through the IRS, along with H&R Block. Normally we get a refund, not as much as we used to but we still get a refund. Since having a house, we pay off property taxes, and use the rest towards bills.

Neither my husband or I have received our W2's yet, but we are early filers as well. We should be getting our W2's within the next week, and I plan on filing as soon as I have both in hand. We usually get a refund, and since winter is slow for my husband work-wise, we usually use the refund to catch up on our bills and put some away for the upcoming year. I use Turbo Tax online to file. It's fast and simple. :)

ugh. well i dont make enough in the year to have to file taxes for myself. i do however file my dads taxes, his girlfriends, and apparently this year i have been "volunteered" to do her daughters taxes also. it isnt hard or anything, just a stressful pain cause its IMPORTANT lol! i use TaxSlayer.com. get both Federal and State taxes e-filed with direct deposit for $10.95 i believe it was. not too shabby. THIS year i AM going to get that chinese food dinner that i was promised last year for doing their taxes!

I have done my brothers taxes for the last few years. I normally get a little bit of money from him for doing it only because he is too lazy to do it himself.

I have not filed yet - we have not received our W-2's yet from our jobs. I started a new job this past year and my husband started a new job as well. We also moved but are still getting some mail at our old address so I need to go and check the mail boxes this weekend. We are normally early filers and we normally get a nice chunk of our money back because we have filed Single and Zero - and we are married with a son BUT this year is going to be a bad one in regards to taxes because we were struggling for most of the year and we did not claim Single and Zero. My son is also going to be 18 next week and we can not claim the tax credit from last year, according to what we've been told - which I think is crazy considering he was 17 for all of 2008. I fear we are going to owe money this year and it's money we do not have. We also lost our home this past year .. Does anyone know a free site where I can do our taxes online? We used to go to H&R Block but they are so expensive! I hope I can do it for us instead.

I haven't received my W2 nor have my husband received any 1099 forms. I also have to wait for a 1099 from unemployment. I will not be getting a refund, I have had to pay every year since I got married. My husband is a 1099, and we wind up paying taxes on the money he has made during the year. This year will be really bad, because of the unemployment I received that was not taxed. I hate tax time.

I haven't filed my taxes yet, they are usually mailed to me and it is around the last of January before they are mailed. Then I will go and get them filed sometime in February. I get mines filed at a tax service that is right up the street from me. They are good and very helpful with filing your taxes. I don't usually have to pay. I don't get that much back because I have no one but myself to claim. Happy Spending when yours returns.

I always get a refund too but this is not such a good thing really. I am happy to get the money but all it means that the government has had an interest free loan from me all year long. The perfect return is 0. Not oweing and not paying. That way you get what you earn throughout the year and the govenment doesn't get to use yor money and not pat interest for it.Think they would loan you money and not ask for interest? They aren't excepting returns til the 16th. I normally use mt refund for something extra but maybe not this year.Until later at least.

Hey hey ;) I am still waiting for my forms , but as soon as they come I will file , and same with my fiance , and brother . My finace usually helps everyone out so they dont go to hnr block like they use to , they use some kind of computer program , and I am unsure of the name now , gosh , cant remember the last time we all did it the old fashion way . Gosh , I have never been a fan of number , or math . I remember my dad when growing up would wait till the last min . I sure know that we all could use the extra money now I know last year it went for bills, and food , and i might have bought a few new tops . This year i know it is a must to get a new rug for in the living room , because my parents stayed with us over the summer , and their pups made such a huge mess , ya know , and well they tore up my soafa too , so maybe if lucky we can replace that once , and for all . I hope everyone gets to enjoy some of the money

I have not yet filed my taxes. I dont know when will I file them .I generally do not know how to do all these things. My brother takes care all these things and does the same for me. I really wish I would have known these things and would have been able to file my returns myself.

Hello, I am married but even at that it is exciting when it comes to tax season. We have not received either one of hubby's W2's yet. But then again they only have till the end of the month to get them out to people. Now that they changed that rule. We always gets a refund but then again we are still a young couple. This is going to be more exciting then last year when it came to filling because we have a new addition so he will be claimed into the taxes to. With us we always put some on our bills, then we want to get my son a toddler bed so that he won't be sleeping on the couch anymore. Then we get to hopefully get our van fixed if it don't cost to much. If we can't it fixed for reasonable price then we are going to finance a Blazer. With what ever is left we want to give the landlord 2 months worth of rent so we don't have to worry about it for 2 months. To me that is the best idea ever because then we have 2 months worth of pay checks that we can fully use on just bills and household and children needs. After that if there is any left I get my new computer and we will be buying some cloths for each of us household members. Just out of curiosity how accurate is those online or do it self taxes are? Are they as good as H&R Block? Because we have always used H&R Block since we started filling taxes. To us it just seems so much easier and plus I would be confused if I did the filling taxes myself.... Happy Mylotting

Any time i am going to get alot of money at one time i am looking forward to it. I only have one child but its still a biggy. This year i am putting it into car repairs. Last year i had to pay back my brother for things i borrowed money for. So this year car repairs, paying something off, and if any is left buying something nice for my son.
