Are you sending greetings through group message/mails?

I used to receive greetings from my ex-colleagues, and send replies respectively. For me, if ever to initiate a greeting, I would rather use the telephone, and having a brief talk over the phone is much more relieving. It's hard for busy younsters, of course. What is your preference, my co-elders?
