Friendship: Do you make friends easily or does it take time?

Some people become instant buddies with people they have just met while others take time in finally establishing this bond we call "friendship." My sister is the type of person who, when she meets someone in a volleyball game, she then goes out with her new friend the next time. They're instant buddies while I on the other hand, before I became "best friends" with my best friend since grade school, we were enemies first! It took time. Do you think that how you establish bonds with people affect the quality of friendship? Like, do you easily give your trust to someone you just met and really believe that you have found a true friend or does it take time for you? We all know how cautious some people are while others are social butterflies. How was it in your experience?
