hi all!
air travel has become one of the most common modes of transportation. and with the various improvements in technology, planes nowadays are very high-tech and sophisticated. however, this means that there is a chance for them to encounter interference from devices, such as cellphones.
there have been several reports about cellphones causing large jets, such as the Boeing 747, to veer off course whenever someone turns their cellphones on or try to use them inside the aircraft. and such planes return to normal behaviour when the cellphone is turned off. although there are no concrete evidences yet, it would be prudent if we turn our cellphones off during the duration of the flight, right? and that's why most countries have laws that prohibit the use of cellphones whilst inside the aircraft.
sadly, there are many hard-headed people out there. and i had such an experience. when i took a flight from Cebu to Manila (both in the Philippines), our plane was readying to taxi to its gate after landing. suddenly, i heard a Nokia cellphone beeping 6x a "message received" tone. the flight attendant sternly repeated her warning more than 6x about turning the phones while still inside the aircraft. but the arrogant-looking lady passenger kept texting on her cellphone!
what made the situation kinda worrying was that while the phone was being used by the passenger, the pilots seemed to have a bit of hesitation in docking the aircraft. they stopped for around 15 seconds before revving up a bit to move the plane forward to the jet bridges. i wonder if the lady's phone caused the issue?
not that i'm sensationalising this, but there are isolated cases where cellphones posed a risk to aircraft communications. that's why government agencies provide laws banning the use of cellphones. but why are there ignorant people who think that the world will come to an end if they do not answer calls or text messages a bit later? should we wait until an accident happens because of these inconsiderate self-centered passengers?
*sigh*
anyways, have you experienced the same situation in an aircraft?
thanks and happy mylotting!

I do not understand why some people are bent upon violating the rules . The lady in the case you mentioned should not have kept on sending messages from her Mobile .
It is important to follow instructions in such cases.
