My pending friends list

When we request a friend, their name goes into our pending friends list. Sometimes my list can get rather long. I have noticed that some people really take just about forever to accept or deny my request. I have a policy now that if someone takes a week, then I delete them. My question is: Does the person deleted from the pending list know in any way that I have withdrawn the request? Does the request disappear from their e-mail or does it disappear when they link to mylot from the e-mail? Is there a message for them in that case? Just wondering. No biggie really.

why are yo asking such hard questions today? lol. I have just deleted 4 people from my pending list that I requested them as friends over five weeks ago. I don't know if they get notified or what. It would be interesting to find out though. Someone will be able to give you the answer. Good posting. Blessings

No they do not get any type of notification that you have withdrawn your "friend request". If they had noticed that you were on the request list and suddenly disappeared that is about the only way.

If you mean a PM (private message) though myLot you would not be able to do that as you cannot PM anyone unless you have accepted them, or they have accepted your request, as a friend. If you mean personal email you cannot get that from myLot.

I mean an e-mail notification that someone has requested them for a friend. If that e-mail is unopened until AFTER I have deleted them where would that bring them? Hmmmmm.....

Thanks, you're probably right. How about an e-mail that I have requested them? What would happen to that? Do you think it would just lead them to an empty screen?

I think once you delete yourself then yes your regust is removed so if the person is checking his/her friend reguests then yes they will realize your off the list. I don't know why people do that really. I have denied several for different reasons but I don't leave them there for months. I also think to I should mention that at times I think people reguest a ton of reguests therefore if one or two people denied them I very much doubt if it would be noticed. I think it's foolish to have a thousand or more on a friends list, I could never handle that, there'd be no time to bath, cook or even go to the bathroom. Take Care.

Grandmaof2 The first thing I do when I receive a friend request is check the number of friends they already have if it is a huge number then I automatically deny them. I do not want to be a "trophy" friend as I am sure they would not be able to keep up with everyone on their list.

Hi there rocketj1 Awww poor rocketj1 does nobody love you? LOL Hahaha. You know something? To be honest I can't really answer this question because it has never happened to me!! People generally accept my request within 24 hours or so, hahahaha. I don't really send out that many invitations, only if I have noticed someone has got involved in one or two of my discussions and then I will invite them!! Good luck with finding your answer!

I kinda think it might have something to do with my avatar scaring people off. Other times it seems to be people who are very new here and just vanish in general. Thanks for the little pity party! hehe

Hi rocket, I have no answer for this, I hope you will be able to get valid fact from our friends! In my case, I accepted everyone who will request my friendship but if they are not active for a certain period of time, I am deleting them too! I just have a lot of friends whom I've never heard from the day I added them. I have 3 pages also of pending requests and most of those I made 9 months ago! LOL! I might be deleting them as well!

I try to be patient with people when I request their friendship. They may just want to get a feel for the kind of person that I am. I am very particular about who I accept as a friend. That person needs to be a child of God.

I think it just disappears from their notifications. I personally think that is a little rude if they have logged on. The first thing I do when I log in is check for any messages or friend requests and deal with them first. If I do not wish someone to be my friend I will decline the invite rather than just ignore it. If someone has taken the time to request me as a friend then either way they deserve the courtesy of having a resonse... Just my own opinion

Hi rocketj1! I did have some people whom I have requested their friendship but it seems that it is being ignored so I just delete them. I usually approve friends' requests as soon as I see the request when I logged in. I really don't know if they will be notified if the friends' request has been deleted or denied or wihdrawn. I only knew that there will be an email notification if it was approved. Take care and have a nice day! lovelots..faith210

I am not sure what does happen with the request.. Everytime I see that I have a friends request, I go immediately and accept them and then I turn on the notifications.. If it turns out that we have nothing in common, such as all of the discussion having to do with money making sites, then I turn the notify off.. I will be glad to read all of the responses and see if someone does know what happens, I learn so much from the other Mylot members..

I usually don't let my pending friends list get that long, as soon as I see it, I'll look at it. I'm not sure if that person knows if they got deleted or not, I've often wondered that. Maybe someone else on here can answer that question for the both of us.

I don't know I haven't requested too many friends, most of mine came to me. I'm shy and so I guess afraid of rejuection even on mylot. So I don't know the answer to your question.

It can be that the person you have requested as a friend has not been online of course but also taht each of us has a certain way of deciding whether or not to approve a friend request. Yes I did approve you as a friend rocketj1 but I am not sure how long it took me to do so. However my procedure to approving or denying a friend request dioes often take a few days, partly because I am not online every day let alone here at myLot. First I check out the type of discussions a person has started and then some of the responses that they have made. Then I might look at their age and their country of origin butthose latter 2 aren't really a deciding factor at all. If I find that we have enough in common through the discussions that I have checked, then I will accept the friend request. If we have nothing at all in common, then I will deny the request. If however, the member who has requested the friendship does not have enough posts for me to make a firm decision, then I will check again some days later. Generally it would be where a person has less than say 20 posts. There are very few friend requests that I actually deny and when I do, it is because we have absolutely nothing in common. At least that is the way it appears from the discussions that they start and the responses that they make. Part of the reason I check those discussions and responses before making a decision is because I prefer to respond to those of my friends before I even look at others. Because of the method I use, I suspect that in some ways I might end up "losing" some potential good friends because I take too long to approve the request.

Mine is somewhat near to your case only as i also wait for nearly three months to allow the user to log in and check my request and some people learn how to add only very late so for them i'm giving some time to recognize the functions and only after that i do delete them from the pending friends request and i really like to have many friends over here in mylot and thats the only reason i have them for three months... Happy Mylotting

rocketj1, I do not think so and I hope it remains that way. No point for them knowing since they do not have the heart and/or intent to be our friend in the first place. Would be better to develop other needed applications over this, i.e. more smileys, alternative avatars and etc.. Cheers.

All that will change is the number in brackets beside 'Friends' will go down by one and your info will no longer show under their 'Pending friend requests' tab. Chances are if they left your request pending for so long they either don't pay any attention to friend requests or they are just too nice to deny you. If it bugs you then go ahead and delete it without giving it a second though, the other party probably wont. I notice any new requests as soon as a log in because that number has appeared beside 'Friends'. I try to approve or deny right away but if it's a new user I will wait a few days to see if they're actually going to be active.

They must activate their preferences notifications for accepts their friendship request for friends. And may be some reason because any one is very busy to get work and doesn't see your friends request. I hope you can add more friends.
