Ok, I have read the dora the explorer book about 20 times tonite. I have it memoried so I don't actually have to look at the book anymore. I have also read Dr. Seuss' Wacky Wednesday about 200 times and don't have to look at it anymore. How many times have you read your childs favorite book? How many times in just one night?

When my son was little, his favorite book was "Goodnight Moon". I read that boo to him so much we wore it out. We had to go and buy a new one . As he got a little older he wanted me to read over and over to him "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". Now he is 17 and all he wants to read are mystey novels . I am just glad he has a passion for reading. Cheryl

Yea, we have had to replace a couple. There are a couple that I would like to "wear out" too. I don't mind reading to them, not even repeatedly but once I hit the 10th time in a matter of an hour, I'm ready to retire it permantly. I hope my girls have a passion for reading. After all, they will need the skills to succeed in the profession I have chosen for them!lol!

Hi ya psspurgeon1 My boys have a Roly Poly Oley book that I know off by heart as it rhymes it is easier to memorize. It's a good book to pick if we are running late for bedtime because I can then just whizz through it, I am still reading what it says on the previous page after having flipped the page over already!!

That's funny! I am reading the next pages before I remember to flip! We haven't had any roly poly books though. I may have to look into one. Right now we're on Pinkalicious and Dora has a picnic.

My son is only 13 months old. We try to read bedtime story to him but he is more interested with the colors and also more interested to chew his book than reading it. So maybe we started again to read him books when he is 2 years old.

Oh no don't do that. Keep on reading now. It is so good for them. And this stage of colors and eating the book is totally normal! Get a few board books that do abc's and colors and let him eat them while your reading. Even if they don't look at the story or pictures it is stimulating their brains in certain places and they are able to retain that info even now at 13 months! Keep up the good work. Soon he will be more willing to pay attention.
