As of date, the Indian-themed movies (aside from Slumdog Millionaire) that I've watched are: Monsoon Weddings, The Namesake, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love. And I can say that Slumdog, slammed the competition. It's the best as of yet.

Hi buddy, i had just watched this movie slum-dog and i found t really very very very interesting and it is really a nice movie. I am an Indian so i have seen all these things in real life that are shown in the movie and it is really very close to reality. What i have seen is that this film has been shown i such a way that only the ugly part of India is exposed and there is lot more in India and this is just a part of it. What i am afraid is that the people(the rest of the world) thinks that the whole India is like this but frankly speaking it is not so. What i am trying to say is that this is about a boy who lives in slum. thats it. And the way it is pictured is very good. So far this is one of the best Indian themed movie but there are still better things than this like Lagaan, etc. Good Luck.

"...what i am afraid is that the people(the rest of the world) thinks that the whole India is like this but frankly ..." I share your sentiments, esp. when one our films(I'm from the Philippines by the way) is screened in a film festival abroad. have you seen the Filipino movie " the Blossoming of maximo Oliveros?" it has the same theme as Slumdog-a boy who lives in the slum. But i think and hope, that the people who watched our movies, will not get the conclusion that the reality portrayed on these movies are absolute. it's just a piece of the whole pie. i-D
