Depends on what you want you want Vidhya. If you feel you are wasting your time and life at the job its worth quitting and looking out for something that makes you feel satisfied and teh time spent worthwhile. But again, most of the times, the money that the job brings plays a big part in your decision. Isn't that why we decide to stick on to a job even though we may not like it in the first place?

Very true though extremely unfortunate. That's the way the world is going and you have to fit in even though we may not like it - The worship of the Greek God Mammon - God of Money!

Hi Vidhyagowri, I would say it is bad. You are working in a reputed company. So you should not quit the job. You can quit if you have decided not to go for any job. You can also quit,if you have some other job in hand. Please think thousand times before quitting. I have some friends who quited the job for good, but now suffering with out a job. I wish that you don't come in that list. Best of luck.

If you decide to quit because you know what you want, and just understand your unique value, interests personality preferences, attitudes and favorite skills then you'll be fine. :) Some jobs provide stability, others are risk and provide more challenge. Some are structured, while others encourage you to go with the flow, or even decide which way to flow. Some jobs, require a lot of socializing, while others give you a lot of alone time. These are the factors that you'll need to consider when making your decision. Regardless if its a well-reputed company or not.

I dont think you should. You should stay with the job as long as you have one. Many people are getting laid off these days. The news reported that Circuit city is closing down and 50 thousand employees are getting fired. You should keep your job while you have one because not many people are hiring. Even if you have some type of college degree theres a low chance of being hired. The economy is going down like crazy. Keep you job while it lasts. wise or unwise depends on you: a job or no job.

It's what I have done really recently. And the answer to your question would really depend on different factors like why you quit the job, your reputation with the company including your relationships there. It would be hard to leave a company where things are unresolved.

I would say you are really courageous to quit the job at this present market situation. We have this dilemma for the past 6 months... Not sure whether we should quit and go to India to settle down there for our parents or just go on...

Iguess it all depends. Personally I think that getting fired from a job is worse then quiting. But, like I said it denpends on why you quite and how your relationships at the company are. Plus, were you a good worker there and that sort of thing.

I hd to look where you were from before posting. See that you're from the good old USA. I'd have to say look very deep into this. Our economey is crap, people are getting laid off left and right. So if this is a company in an industry that will make it through the mass lay offs, I'd say stay with them because you don't know if there is another job out there. Plus if you do get one, you still are not guaranteed that you won't be laid off again in another 6 months. I would think this would be a scary time for looking at changing companies.
