How to Get Traffic?

Hi friends! I have recently made a website and a blog post out there. Now what I want is to get traffic to that site. I had heard about bidvertizers and all. Do they really generate traffic to ones site? If so, I would love to know some of such sites(genuine of course) to drag traffic to my blog. Actually it is a way I want to generate some revenue. Please help me out with your valued suggestions.
