So far, so good.

I made a New Year's resolution to be more physically active. I don't exercise regularly, and I want to start. So I got an elliptical trainer, compiled a selection of music, and decided to get busy. I have been working out 5 times a week, and thought that I would be pretty tired. It turns out, the more I exercise, the more I want to exercise. I just don't feel like sitting at the computer or reading as much. I have been getting about 10-15 minutes at a time of sitting, and then I want to get up and move.
So apparently it is true what they say-- exercise gives you more energy. My writing has suffered, but I'm feeling good and have increased my endurance already. This new burst of energy is a great motivator.
Just wanted to share my success this far. Have any of your own to share?

That is great to hear SC! Well done you. I have been going for a walk with the kids of an afternoon and even though there is not a great deal of speed it is great just being active and outside. It is making me want to be even more active!
Once you get settled I am sure your writing will stop suffering and start to improve as with exercise your brain starts to function better.
Good luck and keep at it!

Thanks for the encouragement, LouRhi. I would love to be outside, but it hasn't gotten above 0 degrees- Fahrenheit- in 4 days. A little chilly for outdoor play, especially for the little one.

Thanks. It has been another week since I posted this, and I'm still going strong. I feel better than I have in years.
I understand about not sticking to things. Until the last few years, I never did either. Then one year I made a resolution to quit smoking, and I decided that no matter what it was going to happen- no excuses. I haven't smoked in over 3 years, and since then, when I make a decision to do something, I do it. I use the quitting smoking experience as a guide- since I was successful with that, I can do anything. I don't just do it at New Year's, but whenever I decide there is something I want to change.

Good for you. It is really beneficial to exercise as it makes our body and mind healthy. I wanted to start with physical conditioning program at the start of this year, sad to note, I have not started it yet. I hope I will have the attitude like you and eventually be able to start soon. Well, best to you and may you be able to continue such program and improve yourself more.

Thanks. I have made this resolution in the past and never followed through. I decided it was time to stop making excuses and just do it. I didn't really have the room for equipment- or so I told myself, but then I rearranged some things, and now it fits perfectly. Amazing what happens when you make a decision to do it.

Well good for you! Haven't really started any new years resolutions, I'll just probably write more and start drinking more water.

I wanted to write more too, but it seems that goal is not compatible with my goal of exercising- at least not for now. It's early yet, maybe that will change.

I have yet to start my new year resolution of more excercise it is so cold, and we have all had these virus's going round but intend to start soon, feeling stronger now thank goodness. It is true when I was walking and running regularly I felt so much better. You pump oxygen round your body and lose weight at the same time, and you also increase your health and your immune system.Mind you i was as fit as a fiddle before I started with the virus in september, then I got a throat infection, then the flu so I don't know really, but I am going to fight back and get out there again,I cannot afford a gym or personal trainer so what ever I do has to be done for nothing, but it costs nothing to walk fast round the park and have a little jog does it.I normally go with my friend but as I have got better she has gone down with it,so I am out there on my own.

I know it's hard when you are sick- it's hard to do just about anything. Hope you are better soon. I wish you luck getting started. It is very motivating to see increased endurance and to feel better once you have started the routine. It is better with a partner, but I am on my own, too.
