Love my Mercedes, but definately not a Winter Car

I have a 1983 300SD Merecedes and I love it. It has so much room, I got it still in clean condition, the amnemities are great and it gives me good mileage, swear it runs even better the more you drive it but there is just one problem. Today were having an Arctic Blast and the weather is horrid and my car will not start. Normally it takes 10 minutes to warm it up but I didn't plan for it to be THIS cold. I plugged the electrical cord into the front of the car but after going to start the engine three times it doesn't look like my baby's starting for another four hours. The car is front wheel drive which means I have to take very extra precautions when driving on icy/slushy roads or I'll be sliding all over here and China. STILL, I looove my baby. I will never go back do you feel the same about your car, what do you find yourself putting up with? In the future I hope to install a biodeisel kit.
