Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a meat loaf recipe, Meat loaf isn't something thats very popular here in Ireland,(in fact i've never seen it here) So would like to make it for a lunch with a friend next week,as it's something different, and thats what our lunches are about, food stuff that is new, different or just weird and wonderful. Thanks D xx

First off if you don't get some low fat hamburger you'll need to pour out the greese mid cooking. I usually make to loafs as my hubby loves mine. I take 1.5lbs of hamburger + 1lb of ground turkey (that way it's less greasy & turkey can be too dry on it's own) Add 2-3 eggs a half cup of ketchup half a chopped onion If I have it I do add green bell peppers 6-8 slices of bread crumbled up bake 3/4's of the way then I pour on my sauce.... 1cup ketchup 1cup brown sugar Mix and pour on meatloaf save any left over as dipping sauce or I just plain make extra ;)

The turkey isn't leftover unless you have a meat grinder. I just buy it in 1lb roll already ground for $1.25. I got the idea because there was alot of greese in the pan of regular meat loaf & turkey is less fattening but not as tasty as ground beef. So I thought I'd put them togeather & it works out perfectly not dry at all and there isn't as much oil/fat in the pan either. And I cannot tolerate alot of oils in my food because of my gallbladder.

I use a pound of ground beef, an egg, about 2/3 cup of bread crumbs (I never measure it), a few splashes of Worcestershire sauce, some fresh or dried minced onion and garlic, a little salt and pepper, and some basil and oregano. I don't put tomato paste or ketchup on mine. I cook it in a loaf pan for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees and then add some barbecue sauce and cook it for a few more minutes.

This is how I make meatloaf and my husband, kids and kids friends all love it. Take 1 pound of ground beef, mix in 2 eggs, some breadcrumbs, grated parm cheese, a tiny bit of mustard, about 1/4 cup of ranch dressing, lots and lots of ketchup, basil and garlic. Mix it all together. YOu want it to be very moist, not dry. Just keep adding ketchup until it is really gooy. Bake at 350 for about 1 hour.
