How Many Languages Can You Speak?

If it's more than one, did you take a foreign language class in school or did you move from one country to the next? Would you like to learn another language? Why? I would love to learn Latin and perhaps Hebrew or even Greek. Dutch is my native language, although I'm getting pretty rusty and I should have known Indonesian but I was too lazy to learn. Some of it I understand. In any case, how many languages do you speak or would like to speak?

I know just 4 languages. I can read and write and speak- English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil. But there are a couple of languages which I can understand, although very little.. I would love to learn German. and of course Greek, and Latin, 'cos most of the scientific terms are from either of them..

I learned German in high school. Since some of it is pretty close to Dutch I can understand still. Unfortunately, speaking it is a whole other matter. Knowing four languages is crazy good.

Hello gtargirl; I can speak 4 languages. Tagalog, Cebuano (my native), English and Japanese. I moved to Japan together with my family and forced to learn the language. I had a formal lesson for 2 years, self studying and meet Japanese friends. I am not fluent but I can understand what people say. Studying is really important so I download podcast in my ipod. English is second language from my native country The Philippines. The best thing to do is to chat with natives online so you can practice the language.

Hello dear gtargirl. I can only speak only two languages, Chinese, my native tongue and English, but I wish to speak Japanese and Korean and Germany and French. But I don't think that I have enough time to learn that many languages. If only I could have time to learn and learn it well!

well, in my country, all of us has to learn at least 2 languages. English as well as our mother tongue. So i'm effectively bilingual. English and Mandarin. I can speak a little mandarin dialect. Hokkien, Teochew and a little cantonese. But it's really half-past six. I would like to learn Gaelic (scotish language) as well as JAP or Korean (this is basically for me to fully understand my dramas).

There are a lot of languages here in my country, i speak [and write] three languages. I studied Mandarin when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago.. the only thing I can remember are the basic ones. Lol! But if I have the time, I want to continue studying it. I want to learn other languages too.. foreign languages that can give me a part-time job. hahaha! That'll be Spanish and French. Also, I like the Japanese language, Nihonggo, I watched a lot of animes online and it's very difficult for me to read the subs and to look at the pictures. hahahaha! Unfortunately, like you, am lazy to learn... =( maybe i'll include this to my new year's resolution. And oh! obviously, I can speak and write english.. so make that four languages. ^^,

I actually did not know that Tagalog was the official language of the Philippines. And Japanese sounds like a very artistic language to learn. Good luck and thanks for your input.
