Dollar value and Euro value

The dollar is the most widely used and accepted currency in the world,then why is the euro value always higher than the dollar value? I am very confused.please help

hello Diyadhrita ,it is an interesting question indeed.But at the same time it is equally tough one.Only greatest economic can answer this neatly.I think the value of the currency depends on the economic condition of the nation as well as cost of living.It has no connection with how widely it is been accepted or no. Once more I have to say it is a very intelligent question.carry on my friend.

Hi, I dont think it is according to what is widely used or not. It is about may be the market value of the currency and the other things like stock markets etc. Its a tricky question really. A good stock analyst may be aboe to tell the answer properly. We recently saw Iceland getting bankrupted as they were dealing with US currecny more than theirs. Cheers, Tutul
